Wow, way to ruin a potential blockbuster Marvel.

They should have waited for Tom Cruise, as well as a better director. They had enough money to pull that off; instead their going to rush the movie out before it's time. I can't believe this. CRUISE IS TONK STARK. Give him the hair from Last Samurai and bam you have it nailed.

Outside of Spiderman 3, they don't have anything huge planned for the future.

But Tony Stark isn't a cocky, arrogant asshole.  There's a depth and vulnerability to the character that separates him from others.  You suck at comics/casting/etc.

Cruise is a one dimensional actor and he's crazy.  Robert Downey is not only a billion times better than Cruise in terms of acting performances, the guy has personally dealt with substance abuse and is able to display the duality of the character that Cruise never can.

Stay away from movie sets.

Starks isn't a cock, arrogant asshole? You suck at comic history Willco. Starks was created as the anti-Bruce Wayne: a filthy rich playboy who actually lived and acted like one. Similar to Wayne's portrayal in Batman Begins. THAT's what Stark's character was originally created as. A man so wounded that he had to put on an act - one as the super cool playboy and the other as the invincible Ironman - in order to hide his mental and physical scars.

Batman also originally shot people with guns, but the character has changed.  Superman didn't originally fly.  Who gives a shit what Iron Man #1 is; the character as he exists today is an emotionally vulnerable man, who has two faces (sometimes three), much like Batman as he exists today. You practically admitted so in your last post.

Cruise could only play one side, if that, of Tony Stark.  And he's a horrible actor to boot.  Paramount did the right thing and got a legitimately good thespian to play the armored one.

Aren't you the same person who complained about how untruthful Superman Returns was to the character? Lol my god. Yes Starks has changed, but this movie is going to go over his origin. It makes perfect sense to portray him as the fraile yet outspoken badass he is.

Cruise is not a horrible actor. Stop drinking the kool-aid and think for yourself. Ever seen A Few Good Men, or Rain Man, or Jerry McGuire? You're such a fucking poser with respect to cinema. You talk as if you're an expert, but in the end you don't know shit; White Man and many other people who are serious about film make you look like a complete ass. No, I complained the script sucked and botched the archtype, and - lo, behold! - I was right.  Superman Returns sucked.

Also, I was one of the biggest supporters of the film until the script review was leaked.  Ask White Man for yourself.

Is his preformance in those movies (A Few Good Men, etc) great or not? Answer the question. What a biased tard bucket.

So his character in Rain Man is the same as his character in Vanilla Sky? Wow.

Pretty much.  Tom Cruise plays Tom Cruise in just about every movie he's been in save for Magnolia, which is a muted Cruise.  He's a mediocre actor, but he looks good and used to have a charming public demeanor that would put asses in seats.

No, they're just okay.  He's got absolutely no range.  The good movies he in are usually due to them being - gasp! - well written or directed.  I don't think I can think of any Cruise movie where his performance stood out as the best or even close to the best.  Jack Nicholson stole every scene he was in, by the way.

Uh, you kind of disprove your point.  First off, both are pre-existing licenses with their own fan bases.  Second, Mission: Impossible III was considered a failure by Paramount, which is why they've dumped Cruise altogether.  Third, are you going to say Cruise is responsible for the success of a Spielberg helmed adaptation of a hugely popular novel about aliens blowing shit up?  Spielberg's name is the draw, not Cruise.

He's just okay.  Rain Man was sold by Dustin Hoffman, and Jerry McGuire's most memorable parts are courtesy of Cameron Crowe, not fucking Cruise.

Yeah, Paramount dumped Cruise, his production company and kicked him off the franchise in public because M:I 3 was a success!  How fucking distinguished mentally-challenged are you?

Haha, you even quote BoxOfficeMojo, whose own premiere box office analyst said of M:I 3, "... This franchise will self-destruct in three movies."

Again, it's a movie based on a hugely popular novel with a dedicated fan base (it's already had movies and shows and comics) directed by the biggest director in the world.  Stephen Spielberg could direct a movie called, "I'm Going to Poop on PhoenixDark's Chest" and it'd still make at least $80 million.

Steven Spielberg + summer blockbuster = $200 million without trying, the Tom Cruise factor was not in effect due to Spielberg.

Indiana Jones IV could be twice as worse as The Phantom Menace but it will still do over $200 million.

Haha, get real.  If you make money, and ask for more money, they're not going to dump if you a proven money maker.  What - is Universal going to tell Peter Jackson that he can't have outrageous sums of money?  No, he fucking is Peter Jackson.  That's the most distinguished mentally-challenged thing in the world.

I read trades - you don't.  Redstone dumped Cruise because M:I 3 was a failure, and Cruise's share of the gross was so large that it left Paramount with nothing.  He's not bankable anymore.  That was in Variety.  And the Hollywood Reporter.  Do your research, son.

Uh, he's never had a deal with New Line after Lord of the Rings, and he was never in jeopardy of losing his job on that project after FOTR rocked it out in theatres.  Nobody has balked at his multi-million dollar deals, because he makes money.  You make money, you get money.  Simple concept.

Peter Jackson made a shitload of money off of Lord of the Rings - I don't think he's complaining.

And I don't think Cruise is incapable of starring in a hit movie, but he's no longer the A-List draw he used to be.  In the right vehicle, like War of the Worlds, with the right director, script and release - he can still make a studio some money.  But when a film is put on his shoulders, like as it was with M:I-3, he will continue to disappoint.  He's now a joke; a celebrity freak on par with Michael Jackson.  And look what that did to his career.

Um Jackson recently said he'd never work with New Line again. They shanked him

MI:III was a sequel to an already old and uninteresting franchise. It's no wonder it didn't do great, especially considering it wasn't nearly the best summer blockbuster. People just weren't interested in the series.

I look forward to Cruise's next huge hit movie.

Jackson? Jackson can't sell 500,000 copies off a new album (NOT greatest hits shit). Cruise will get at least $100 million on whatever movie he makes. His next action movie will be a hit, no doubt about it.
