After I read the transcript of the latest Bin Laden tape I knew it would be a matter of time before it was used against democrats and liberals. From a strategic standpoint it wouldn't be hard to say "the democrats agree with Osama". Not that I believe that, but some of the points he made fall in line with liberal positions. But of course saying "dems agree with Osama" is meant to suggest something far more sinister. It's smart Rove spin, but it's dishonest
There are many liberals who don't understand the threat of terrorism. There are many liberals who don't believe in terrorism. Reid's statement that "the war is lost" was not an admission of defeat, but a diagnosis of the situation. Today the situation is slightly different. From a military standpoint the surge is working in many areas. The problem is the political situation within Iraq. That's what needs to be addressed, but as of right now there has been very little progress. Quickly "Pulling out" would only signal an immediate disaster, but staying there guarentees a gradual one.
