Bioshock (XBox 360)- Beat the game last friday, got the good ending for saving all the little sisters. This was a thoroughly enjoyable shooter all the way through; it's the atmosphere and the powers you get that really make the game shine. The story falls apart a little bit towards the end, but it doesn't matter since the game is just plain fun. There were some things that annoyed me, namely hacking (it's a Pipe Dream style mini game) because at times the game would "cheat" and there would be no way to win, and also towards the end...there's a very short escort mission that was a little annoying because you can lose sight of your companion. But that was pretty much it; Bioshock was quite an enjoyable ride and I will definitely be playing through it again at least once more on hard and to get the bad ending. Bioshock is without a doubt the best single-player FPS of the last couple of years, and I'd say the best single-player FPS on consoles EVER.
Phoenix Wright Justice For All (DS)- Started this up again after getting the third game. I got tired of this title during the third case (circus killing), which just dragged on and on and on AND ON, and stopped playing it earlier this year. But I finally finished it and am working my way through the last case so I can move onto the superior third game. I think PW2 is the weakest entry in the series overall. I already know that PW3 has better stories than this one does. Thankfully the fourth case is better than the last, but I still want to finish this game and put it behind me already.
Fatal Fury Special (XBox 360)- This game is a trip. I am owning people left and right, and the best rank I've achieved is 55 (worldwide). It's great because the game rates you on your SKILL and you go up pretty quickly if you actually know how to play. I think I can make it to the top 30 if I keep at it. Overall the online play is good and I have only had a few laggy matches. FFS is dated, but very playable and it has more modern features (dashing backwards, line sway, crouching advance, super moves, etc.) compared to SF2 Turbo, which also came out in 1993.
That's it for now. I'm waiting for
Musou Orochi on Xbox 360 this week, and will also likely pick up
SSX Blur for the Wii, which FINALLY comes out in Japan Thursday as well. I don't know why it took them so damn long. Next week is a big week here with the
new PSPs,
Metal Gear Portable Ops Plus (only 2400 yen!!),
Mario Strikers Wii, and more.
this game is beginning to grow on me again. i barely played my ps3 import copy.
It's the achievements...
While the other titles didn't give you any sense of fulfillment, the latest X360 DW offerings have rewarded you with those ever so elusive achievements to hang on your wall.
Gotta admit, I'm willing to give the game a chance again on 360 because of the cheese dub and achievements, but I doubt I'm going to. Musou Orochi will keep me busy along with Samurai Warriors 2 XL, plus I'm really waiting for the far superior Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes and Dynasty Warriors 6 anyway.
