Author Topic: Anyone interested in doing Evilbore Secret Santa again this year? (Read 8965 times)

So I noticed that distantmantra set up the Secret Santa over at GAF, and it reminded me about possibly doing one here.

We had it last year and it went pretty well, I think, and I'd be happy to organize it again if there's enough interest. We have a lot more users now, too.

If you think you'd possibly like to join in, vote, post, or both, and let me know. I'd like at minimum 10 confirmed people before I go ahead and get the ball rolling.

You can change your vote if you happen to change your mind.

I'd participate again, but I'm curious to who my santa was last year. There was a mixup with my mail and the package got returned, I never got my SS gift. I didn't want to make a big deal about it and posted a little memo in the SS thread but no one ever claimed responsibility. Also, my ss receiver last year never made a thread about his gift. Other than that though, A+++ experiece would do again!!!

nah, G wasn't your secret santa. G didn't take part last year... i wouldn't have let him join anyway. i can't remember exactly who it was but i can check for you and bar that person from participating again.

that really sucks that you didn't get your package. i'll understand if you don't want to participate this year.

last year some really great gifts were given, ipods, movies, games, accessories, night lights (

) cookies, gift cards, books... the list goes on and on, just look up the old thread to check it out.

EDIT: i went ahead and checked, and your ss last year was homemade milk.

No, please don't ban that person from participating. At one point my Post Office DID have the package, I just didn't know they were going to mail it BACK so soon. I wanted to avoid the xmas rush so I went to pick it up on the 27th and the package had already been mailed back. I would have liked to gotten the package sent back but whomever my Santa was never responded in the thread and I didn't want to make a big deal about it (still don't.) It's really not a big deal and I felt bad that whomever my SS was may have thought I didn't want their gift.

I definitely want to participate again, this is the type of community where the SS idea really works.

i said i adored it in a couple threads! it's just a hard topic to make a thread about, given a) the title; and b) it's a movie that's funnier to display on your dvd rack than discuss, since the movie itself is pretty tame as far as blaxploitation flicks go

The title was what made it a perfect subject matter for this forum, what with the word swap and all. I'm sorry to hear the flick was pedestrian, that much was to be expected I suppose. Was it a real dvd or a dvdr? Did the packaging at least look halfway decent? Did TVC ever show you the website I ordered it from? They had a Brazilian Star Wars that was #2 on the list, perhaps this year's gift

And for the record, I wasn't bringing that up to make you acknowledge your gift. Rather, I was detailing my particularly unsatisfying experience in last year's contest, which really had nothing to do with you. I'm glad you liked your gift, that makes me very happy and that's all that really mattered.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this year's gift! Does Homemade Milk still post? I wonder what he got me last year..

That might be a good idea, but then you'd have people being like "well I don't think Ichirou is creepy but I don't like his opinion on ___ so I don't want him to have my address." Then it would be a million times harder to organize.

I just wanna know how the hell does this work. In real life this is easy, because you can just give it to someone you know by slipping it in their pocket or desk or something. Online it's a little tricky. I mean, how does it remain secret? Do you give all ofyour addresses to the project lead? And even still, who the hell would trust some random person to have every single forum member's address?
