I'm not going to watch that video and get excited again and then watch the GC version get canned.

This game has really fallen down my list of things I'm looking forward to since it was shown 2 and half years ago anyway.

Guitar Hero II FTW.

I think I've convinced myself that it will be canned just so I'm that much happier when I actually have it in my hands after waiting for it forever.

Anyway, the wii looks like a dumb console imo and I'm anticipating Gears Of War waaaaaay more then zelda.

How can I be an N-tard and not own a gamecube? N-tards ONLY own Gamecubes!  >:(

Also, Cajole: you just gotta believe brother. I want to play TP as it was originally designed to be played before playing the Wii version personally and after all these years of waiting, I don't think Nintendo will cancel it.

:-*

btw I didn't hate Okami. And for the record, while 3d Zelda ain't got nothin on 2d Zelda, they're still great games. Also, Link's Awakening owns. You are WRONG White Man!

I thought Europe is getting an GC version as well.

No matter, as NA is clearly superior. But we know that.

I mean, it's obvious Japan was going to go gaga over Wii anyways so that's a smart move on Nintendo's part. Us? Not so much. GC version plz.

I can't wait either, although it looks like I'm not getting it anytime soon. I'm gonna buy the Xbox 360 instead of the Wii; I just don't have the space to be waggling in my room, and I damn sure won't be doing it in the living room in front of roommates; plus I wouldn't want to leave it down there anyway considering college kids steal shit.

Maybe my brothers will give me our old Gamecube once they get the Wii. I think I can hook that up to a monitor :lol

Well, you can't be afraid about TP because you had a bad experience with a bad Zelda clone. Play Okami and you'll get a taste of better things to come.

P.S. OoT is factually the best 3D Zelda ever (until TP comes out). :)

Edge Mag's preview:

Quote
"The message is clear, this time Nintendo has made a game unafraid to stand tall beside those two previous titles (OOT, LTTP) widely regarded as the greatest in a series of greats. This is no 'what if' whimsy like the WW or the minish cap. TP is Zelda by the book and there's every sign that it's the most involved, the most ambitious, the just plain biggest zelda there's ever been."

"The sheer amount of content in TP is overwhelming. It throws new skills, items and intriguing twists at you far faster than any zelda before it."

"Epona is no slender pony this time, instead a solid, gigantic, invincible animal."

During the first 6 hours you will have done more than the equivalent of 3 dungeons in on any other zelda game in terms of new items, skills etc.

The first dungeon reminiscent of the forest temple is

"though hardly hard, it's probably as involved and suprising as any other initial zelda dungeon, if not more so."

"you begin to get a sense of the sheer dizzying scope of TP, it threatens to be absolutely immense, an epic seldom rivalled in scale outside the rpg form (and never by another launch game) and loaded heavier than ever with items, details and possibilities as yet unseen in a test that made 6 hours feel like 6 minutes."

"It's almost forbidding, TP is certainly no populist rethink of zelda, in tune with the popular all cuddly all access Wii. It is instead an all guns blazing assault on the hardcore, a fanboys wet dream (if there's any worry at all it's that it might overburden itself)"

"That's reflected in the involved controls of the wii version, though not as off putting as the E3 demo, when introduced and gradually relaxed into over time, they are delicate, sometimes demanding and occasionally frustraing. Attack gestures flow beautifully, but are sticky to start and jumping to pointer aiming can be awkward and dis-orientating. However they more than make up for it with tremendous tactile excitement, the shrill thrill of the speaker effects and the very real and seriously welcome freedom and comfort that comes from having your hands attached by 3 feet of wire, not 3 inches of plastic. . Factor in the Wii only widescreen support -no small consideration- and it's clear which version is a must have."

"The questions it answers are the important ones. Is it a challenge? Is it a mystery? Will it make your heart stop? Is it Zelda? Yes, yes, yes and yes."

Twilight Princess First Impressions Hit Intertubes

Something to piss you off: Right now, as I sit here sipping a chilled mimosa and you glued to your monitor, ******'s Mark Wilson is playing Twilight Princess. (Actually, he's probably dreaming about what he played today, but still.) What does he think? No clue. Seriously. Why? Nintendo of America has embargoed it until Friday.

Something else to piss you off: Right now, millions of Japanese people are reading in depth hands-on reviews of Twilight Princess, reviews that you cannot. Why?

To piss you off.

The good news. These early Japanese impress indicate that the game is gonna rock. There's Link. A wolf. And pure goodness, apparently. So. I'll dive in, try to highlight what Game Watch Impress and Famitsu, both of which got to try the game out on October 27 in Tokyo, said about the way it looks and how it plays. I've heard there's a lag, but didn't see that mentioned. Maybe it was there, and I missed it. If so, feel free to add anything I missed in the comments section. Onwards!

* Game Watch

Flicking or shaking it causes Link to attack. Game Watch noted that the controller is light and does not cause the wrist to get tired after extended play. Play is intuitive, and Link moves smoothly. Controlling Wolf Link is like controlling human Link. The game's graphics, they liked them. The site states, "Controlling Link and moving the controller and seeing Link synchronize with the movements was a different kind of exhilaration from anything out there." Game Watch calls the one-two compatibility punch of Twilight Princess and the Wii-mote "preeminent." In short, they dug it.

* Famitsu

The website writes, "The oneness with the character has improved greatly than a past controller." Take mini games, like fishing, which are done with the Wii remote. They called the Wii-mote operation "more intuitive." Buttons are for things like jumping. While the new controller and nunchaku are for moving and attacking. Likewise, they couldn't say enough good things about the game. The November 10th issue of Famitsu will feature a more in-depth look on paper. So you can touch it.

Mark Wilson's impressions will be here on Friday. Stay tuned!

Why the Gamecube version is going to be the definitive version, a list by Polari.

1. Link is left-handed, and I'm not saying this is a reason for the sake of nostalgia, but because I'm left-handed too and the Wii version doesn't seem to have an option for us southpaws.
2. The whole game isn't fucking mirrored..

"lol guys, it's ok, it's only mirrored"

3. For poor students who have rubbish 4:3 TVs the Wii version is going to be letterboxed. I'm all for DVDs preserving the original aspect ratio of films, but in games it's silly, especially considering most of the development for this one was in 4:3.
4. No waggle. I'm not a waggle hater. I'm sure I'll love the waggle, but only in games that were designed from the ground up for waggle. Sword movement isn't just not one-to-one, but he apparently does the same exact same fucking slash whatever sort of slashing motion you do. Rubbish.
5. You can play it on your Gamecube too. Put the Wii in the living room and the Gamecube in the bedroom :-* and alternate between playing Zelda in bed and playing Zelda sitting on the sofa. Brilliant.
6. Little discs. Everyone loves little discs. Even girls, and girls usually hate discs.
7. Whereas the Wii version will be able to be picked up for $5 with change in a year's time, the Gamecube version might actually increase in value as everyone who bought the Wii version realises how wrong they've been and fights over the 15 copies Nintendo are going to press of the Gamecube one. It's a sound investment.
8. None of this auto-shield rubbish.
9. Less tiring so we can all stay morbidly obese.
10. The HUD doesn't take up half the fucking screen.

why would you want to spoil the game and look up all the media information you can?  I ruined REmake hardcore when I did that, and since than anything i'm excited about I look about nothing about.  The only thing I know about it so far it s the twight realm and link turns into a wolf

OMG! First embargo is up! I think this may now have become my most anticipated game of all time.

Impressions!

I will quote the juiciest details because some of these impressions contain what you actually do in these first 10 or so hours, and I don't wanna know!

Quote from: IGN
Bitter and Sweet
As a videogame reviewer and a journalist with a looming deadline, playing the near-final build of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a bittersweet experience. Sweet for all the obvious reasons. I could simply write that "it's Zelda" and veteran gamers would fully understand. But let me go into a little more detail for those still unfamiliar with this franchise - there might be one or two of you left, after all. Nintendo's action-adventure series has, since its conception decades ago, set the standard for the genre with incredibly deep gameplay mechanics and clever puzzles, not to mention beautiful graphics. In fact, Nintendo 64's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is even to this day heralded as the greatest videogame ever made by too many gamers and critics to count.

Now, bearing that in mind, Twilight Princess is bigger, deeper, and prettier. Which is, of course, precisely the problem when time itself is a hot commodity for me, and this is where the bitter comes into the equation.

If Wii Sports is for the non-gamers, Twilight Princess is for the hardcore. After I spent 10 hours with the game, I barely managed to squeak by two temples, with the third so far off that I could scarcely imagine getting there, let alone approach the objective. (For the record, out of 30 or so journalists, nobody came close to the third temple.) I asked how long it took Nintendo's testers to complete the entire game the first time through. The answer is a whopping 70-plus hours. Adding insult to injury, diabolical Nintendo translator and localization manager Bill Trinen told me that he was working on his second play-through of the game. Knowing what to do and where to go, and skipping cut-scenes, Trinen said that he had logged about 27 hours to make it about two thirds of the way through the temples themselves - and that doesn't account for any of the side quests or time sucks like fishing, a single operation that could easily add hours upon hours to Zelda's depth.

When publishers claim that their games are 50 hours long, seasoned players usually half that number for the truth. But with Twilight Princess, I think we can really look forward to a 50-plus-hour adventure, bare minimum. This quest will keep you busy through the holidays and beyond. So, I'm pondering this revelation a lot as I try to imagine how in the hell I'm going to find the time to beat Zelda and still review 30 other games for the Wii launch. Of course, that's more than a little terrifying, but at the same time I am absolutely thrilled by the prospect of spending some quality time with Link, Epona, and Zelda again. Oh yeah, and Midna, too.

There's no way to know for sure how it'll all turn out yet, as even with 10 hours under my belt I've only scratched the surface. However, if the game keeps up or gets better - as Nintendo's people promise that it does - there is simply no way that the adventure will remembered as anything but a masterful classic and quite possibly the best launch title in the history of the business.

Two Systems - One Game
Twilight Princess may have started as a GameCube title, but it finished a Wii one. There remains this faction of gamers that refuses to accept the possibility. You know who you are. You continue to argue that because the controls were originally designed for the GameCube pad there is no hope for the Wii build. You say that your arms will get tired using the Wii remote. You speak of mirrored worlds and right-handed Link. And you know what? It's all crap.
If you buy Twilight Princess for GameCube and not Wii, you are a fool (Himuro's note: wtf?). And I state that without meaning to suggest that the GCN iteration is flawed - it isn't. It's an amazing swan song for Nintendo's older system. But neither is it as good as the Wii incarnation. In fact, were it up to me and not Nintendo (and in my dreams, it is), I'd have scrapped the GCN build altogether, forcing everyone to exclusively buy the Wii version. Honestly, Nintendo gave you five good years with GameCube; it doesn't owe you a damned thing.

At this point, the average player will be six hours into the game -- and about a 10th of the way through the quest, to hear Nintendo tell it. So far, Twilight Princess seems nothing less than amazing; although the opening hours had the potential to feel old hat for fans who've been through the basics time and again, the game tosses in enough new twists to keep things interesting. And the look of the game is impressive; sure, it's not HD, and some of the textures seem a bit bland, but the visual design is far more beautiful than just about anything else out there.

If Twilight Princess manages to uphold the level of quality seen in its opening hours for the entire duration of the adventure, it will unquestionably go down as one of the greats. Imagine Ocarina of Time, but polished and expanded and refined and generally perfected: that's what Twilight Princess feels like so far.

I felt it was extremely important to get others viewpoints instead of just my own when it came to the Wii’s control success rate. The honest overall opinion of myself, and the journalists that I talked to is this. If you play Twilight Princess on the Cube, we feel that you are missing out on an amazing experience.

Oh man.
