also, get the Hori 360 gamepad from Ebay to play with that game, it's peeeeeerfect, I've invested at least 30 hours in the 360 version of VF so far and it controls like a dream

i still prefer the PS3 version because I own a Virtua Stick High Grade, and because the game seems a bit less blurry in certain spots, but contrastingly the 360 build has very nice anti-aliasing

I've started off socking faces with my lover Jacky so I can still win while I'm becoming acquainted with the new system features.  The different side steps are going to take awhile to adjust to.

Also, is there a character specific tutorial mode?  The training features seem to be seriously lacking when compared to VF4.

It's weird; I barely touched the PS3 version and pretty much gave up on the arcade version (nobody plays it around here), but I'm all over the 360 version because of the online play.

I only order import games from Hong Kong, and in my case, that's American games.    I buy Japanese games in Japan, of course, since they're cheaper here.  Generally what you see listed on sites like Play-Asia are $10-$20 higher than what they sell for in Japan.  Play-Asia actually offers free shipping to Japan, although I pretty much always go for UPS or Fed Ex, since I'm an impatient bastard and those options get me the games usually in about two days after ordering.

I never got a stick; don't really have the space for one and I've never been much of a stick player anyway.  If someone ever releases a PS3/360/Wii or at the least a 360/PS3 stick, then maybe I'll get one, but I'm fine with a pad.  I can go back and forth between pads and sticks with no problem, and I don't even have a problem using the stock 360 controller without sanding it down!

Maybe that's why you have no problems with the 360 joypad.  The difference in signal strengh could be part of it but it also seems that the actual d-pad on the wired is a bit better.

I got the game yesterday, and I'm loving it so far. I'm trying to learn Aoi and see what happens. Right now, I'm concentrating on beating arcade mode with everyone to get those two achievements, then I'll get the two achievements in Dojo mode, then I'll move on to Quest mode.

I like how all the achievements are acquired through offline play. I can enjoy Live multiplayer without having to get an achievement buddy to get a ten game win streak or anything like that. Thanks, AM2, for thinking about that.

That's disappointing, I gotta admit. Training was my favorite part of Evo, and it's the reason I'm into the series now, period.

Yeah, Himuro, training mode is not as deep as evo.  I haven't bought the 360 version.  I played the hell of the PS3 version.  VF5 was the first VF game I got into and I bought evo later for training purposes.  It was hard getting into evo after playing VF5 with its much improved graphics engine.

The character specific tutorials were fantastic.  Not only did they spell out your combo options for a large number of floats and stagger circumstances in a way that made perfect sense to novices, but they give you basic, character specific strategies that were applicable even with human opponents and were great at improving your overall game.  I wouldn't have been able to use a good number of the characters I picked up in VF4 if not for that tutorial section.  It's a goddamn shame it isn't included in VF5.

iirc the PS3 version doesnt have the dumb difficulty level in quest mode. You do NOT add a difficulty scale on top of a difficulty scale. Normal difficulty is too easy, I am going to switch to Hard, as I think thats where the PS3 version sat. 5th/6th Dans are where casual players should start feeling at least light resistance.
