I like it a lot, TVC. It's got this Dragon Quest vibe that I'm seriously eating up. I don't know if it's Toriyama's character designs or what. I dunno about everyone else but I've always had a soft spot for Akira Toriyama character designs, monster designs;etc. so that's probably apart of the appeal for me.
The characters are cool. They aren't emo or anything, and that's so great. The game is actually humorous in some spots, which is always nice when it comes to rpgs.
The music is damn good.

Best Uematsu in a while
The battle system and job system are really good so far. I like how the classes are not only varied in terms of skill set, but play style. For example, monks use attacks via charging, magic is cast via charging... it can make battles interesting because charging can make battles go by much easier. I hope enemies can charge attacks too. Actually, I hope there's more play styles than just charging.
Job system is addicting although I'm not sure I completely understand it yet. I'm not sure if it's like FFV where you can only equip one job at a time, but still retain your old job's abilities, or if you can equip multiple jobs at once. I changed Jiro's job to Barrier magic but left his white magic class on the abilities list, and somehow I think he's learning white magic alongside barrier.
So basically, I have a high quality next gen rpg with amazing production values not by Square Enix. Hopefully Mistwalker sticks around, because right now I'm so impressed with BD, I'm becoming even more averse regarding Square.
Only problem I have now are the monster designs (they aren't nearly as charming DQ's imo) and the random frame rate raping in battle.
I hope dungeons get deeper and have more and better puzzles.
