Traffic Ticket-Age
« on: November 24, 2007, 02:35:26 AM »
A few weeks ago, when I was picking up my Ace Combat 6 flightstick bundle preorder, I got into a minor fenderbender. How minor? I didn't notice any damage on the "victim" car. Nothing. Yet, there was a whole deal about it, there was a witness and everything, and I got written up for reckless driving. Now, I felt that the police officers and the witness were rude to me beyond belief, but that's not what I want to talk about. It's semantics.

You see, I'm about to plead not guilty on this ticket and go to court over it. The thing is, what they wrote me up on was just rolling up to take my turn getting out onto an intersection, the traffic was clear, I turn my head right... then bam! The car ahead of me didn't go, and I get blamed for it. I was rolling up. No speed whatsoever! That's not reckless driving to me. This is reckless driving. Would the judge buy that argument, or am I just dumb? This is such a colossal waste of time. I still can't believe it happened.  :-\ :'(

depends on a lot of states laws.  in texas, if you rear end someone, you're always liable... no matter what :'(  except they give you a ticket for "failure to control speed" or some shit.

find out what kind of laws your state has first.

also, how much is the ticket?

normally when you rear-end someone, you'll be at fault unless you can prove the person in front was doing an illegal thing that you had no way to react to.

... maybe I can do a plea deal. I already took traffic school three times, and I only can do it two more times. The "five times in a lifetime" thing is bullshit. I hope this can be wiped clean if I move to another state... :-\

If your profile here is correct, you're 22 years old. You've done traffic school 3 times already?

I don't think a minor fender-bender is cause for a reckless driving ticket at all, but seriously, what other traffic violations have you had in the max 6 years you've been driving?!

Speeding, taking a U-turn when it was clearly illegal, and running a red light.

well I'd work on a really nice sounding story for why it wasn't your fault, and thus reckless driving.

I'm seriously thinking about using the Nick Hogan defense- that was reckless driving, not a minor fender bender where the victim's car had very, very minor damage. Plus, the officers were rude beyond belief, so I should file a complaint about that...
