TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp's (6758.T) PlayStation 3 outsold Nintendo Co Ltd's (7974.OS) Wii game console in Japan in November for the first time since the machines were launched late last year, a game magazine publisher said. Nintendo sold 159,193 units of the Wii in the four weeks to November 25, trailing sales of 183,217 units of the PS3, Enterbrain said on Friday.

I think what it comes down to is this. Japan is small. Wii sales numbers are HUGE. Wii cannot sustain those numbers in a small place like Japan since the Wii is old hardware that never breaks down.

I am not surprised people who own a Wii did not buy another, while people continue to buy a console that has sold poorly for a while now.

uh, like the situation with the DS or the PS2?

(ok ok, many families own multiple DSes but only one Wii. but Japan's population is 120 million dude...Wii is far from saturating it. A better approach would have been "no games that even casuals want...until WiiFit")

So we're in agreement: Wii doesn't lack potential customers, it lacks games. See my previous statement in parentheses.

yeah: contra 4, contra, and super c

but i may have to change my tune on ds if bangaioh, dodgeball, and metal slug 7 turn out even fractionally as well as contra 4

So what's the reason?  The new gimped-but-lower-priced 40gb model and Shin Sangoku Musou 5?
