okay we had some funky nibbles, toasted bread things served with handmade buffalo mozzarella (the shit!), proscuitto wrapped melon chunks (which actually werent that good) and some stinky ass exotic cheese and crackers

dinner was: roasted poussin (omg delicious, like a little chicken on your plate!), with a pumpkin, feta and kumara bake and my mums fuck awesome ceasar salad

washed it all down with heaps of bubbles and french red

my old man is in the hospital with several inches of necrotized intestine, and after they removed it, his vasculitis/polyarteritis decided to attack the areas where the excisions were made. we've been at the hospital with him for yesterday and today.

fear ye not, i am back now and will be ready for the impending booze and seattle slackery

he's got at least 12 days of terrible pain ahead of him, but it probably won't be fatal. never seen him look so utterly destroyed, though; the man is a vietnam vet and former fireman/paramedic who once survived a two story fall while landing on a rock on his back, but this shit is chewing him up. spent a chunk of the day trying to cheer him up, and he seemed a bit better when i left, so all's good for now, although it's a sad day when he's in such pain that i can't even race bait him.

Drinky, I hope he pulls through okay.

I'm Jewish, so Xmas = LOLZ to me, but back home we'd always go to my aunt's house for a Christmas day dinner with big hams and turkeys and stuff.  But in Japan?  Nothing.  I went with my wife to the in-laws house for a full day of sitting around bored while my wife printed out hundreds of new years' cards.  The in-laws only came home at night, and we went to eat a traditional Xmas dinner of udon, soba, tempura, and tonkatsu.
