Author Topic: I got married!/I'm going to Europe AND BEYOND. With pictures! (Read 3834 times)

Gentlemen, ladies of Evilbore: I got married. It was good. Weeks of skimping and planning, last minute panics and cancellations gave way to a perfectly wonderful day. I got plenty of "Are you sure?"s before the wedding, but I've never been so sure of anything before. It sounds goofy and I didn't get it until now, but I "knew".

Anyhow, pics of the wedding are below. But at noon tommorrow we leave for Dublin, where we'll be for 11 hours, then on to Vienna, Prague, Brno, Morrocco and Berlin for a few weeks. I've promised to do updates for family and friends and I figure I may as well post here. I'm not sure what our internet situation will be; The laptop we had planned to take is crapping out as I speak. But we should be able to find some internet cafes and the like for text updates, with a pic orgy afterwards. So, uh, keep an eye out.

So, without further interruption.

Later, I purchased her brother candy smokes. I thought this was pretty much the funniest thing I had ever done:

Then we took pictures at the beach and she said she could pick me up and I said she couldn't and she couldn't. Then we got more candy smokes and played Skee Ball:

Pretty much the most fun you can have with a 10 year old boy is to order him a couple of espressos, let him eat from the sugar bowl and then watch him take artsy pictures of his brow:

We almost didn't have a cake. Her mother was making the cake and she overfilled the pans for easy leveling. But the pans overflowed while baking, spilled their batter onto th oven bottom and caught fire. Hence:

We are young folks. I'm 23, she's 21. And she already has her Master's. I feel like a bum. But we got married to serve together in the Peace Corps! And because it makes us happy, yessir.

I was thinking about that reviewing these photos. But I pretty much need glasses to function and contacts have never fit my eyes. I have some weird shaped eyes or something, the doctor was flummoxed last time I tried to get them.

I think they look good.

I'm always sort of the fence about it. After Peace Corps, maybe I'll think about contacts. Generally, I like how I look without glasses, but I'm so used to having them it's sort of like saying, "Well, if I could just get 20,000 bucks in facial surgery, I could look great!". It seems unreal, not even worth considering. I like glasses, I'm just not always sure I like me with them.

don't feel old, lots of people are getting married at an older age these days, they just did it so they could do the Peace Corps together, I'm sure they would have waited longer if that wasnt in the cards

We're leaving in 30 minutes! I'm kind of nervous. I'm well traveled within the states, but I've never been outside. I have plenty of friends from other countries, but. It's the weird feeling that all this data, all these imaginings you have about a place are about to come to terms with the reality of it. It's a gigantic reconciling and it's making making me anxious, although terribly excited.
