Wow, I need to get this book. As a kid the Star Wars films captivated me like no other franchise, and to this day I still cannot deny that magic. Interestingly I haven't seen the original trilogy in years; the last time I saw it was on VHS actually after my dad found the olllld trilogy set at a Salvation Army thrift sale. I saw the re-mastered version in theaters ages ago as well, and before that I remember my dad renting each movie for me and my brothers. I was pretty young, and after watching one I'd beg him to go get the next one lol
But omg the saddest thing I ever saw: when I played basketball at this Baptist school, we were on the bus driving to a game when I heard a teammate explaining the entire Star Wars trilogy to one of our ballboys. The kid had to be around my age at the time, 13 or 14, and had never seen Star Wars. So my teammate was explaining all the details from each movie, then he got to ESB :/
Teammate: So then Vader cut off Luke's hand, and he was trying to get away on this big pole thing
Ballboy: Wow
Teammate: Yeah, like a space flag pole. And then Luke told Vader he hated him because he killed his father
Ballboy: He did? Oh yea I remember you told me that
Teammate: AND THEN Vader said no Luke, I'm actually your father
Ballboy: No way!
I don't know what was worse, discovering a 14 year old BOY in AMERICA had never seen Star Wars, or listening to someone spoil the entire trilogy to him in such a horrible way :'(
