I enjoyed it.  Probably second favorite Zelda after OoT for me.  Too many games in backlog though to replay and not nostalgic enough yet.

Does the game get less boring after the first few hours?

You should ditch PH and play TP first instead. PH is garbage.

It has the slowest start of any Zelda, thanks to those shitty tears of light quests, but it really picks up after the third temple (I loved the 3rd temple btw).

Oh I already finished TP (I was talking about replaying it). I pretty much agree with everything you've said, though.

Stop immediately, twilight princess was the last real zelda made.

That's in reference to the superior gamecube version which I played last winter.  Waggling to swing your sword = PISS.

Edit:  Oh, I see you've already played it.

To anyone not wanting to play the beginning couple hours of TP: I don't blame you!  They do sort of suck.  So borrow someone's memory card and start from right around the third temple.

Or man up and suffer through those first hours, because I still think the last two thirds of TP is fuckin' awesome.  TVC be damned.

What makes you angry about the last part?  Other than a pretty easy last boss(es), the atmosphere and music was totally badass.  Awesome final segment, the best next to the Wind Waker's.

I loved the final bosses, atmosphere, and music. I was just pissed off at the last two dungeons that they tacked on. It made the game way too long, and it felt like a drag finishing them.

I thought both thw Twilight Realm and Hyrule Castle, while short, were like the two best showcases of each half of the world of TP.  I enjoyed Hyrule Castle a ton.

The Hyrule Castle was greatly designed (the rain was a very nice touch), but I wasn't feeling the Twilight Realm's dungeon. At that point in the game, I just wanted it to end. I guess it's a problem with me, though. I am one of those people that likes their games to be short (under ~20 hours). I am sure I would've liked the game if I played it in two different sittings (separated by a month or two) instead of trying to finish it within a week. Then again, I might have gotten sick of the 3D Zelda formula at that point in time.

Speaking of disappointments...my biggest disappointment with this game came from early on when I first entered the overworld and saw that huge spiraling rock formation in the sky, I was so hyped because I thought that'd eventually be a dungeon.  It turns out it's just some clipart tacked onto the horizon.   :(

Am I the only person who actually really really liked this game? I mean, I'm used to slow-as-balls starts from playing so many RPGs, some of the dungeons were excellent (2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 in particular), and it wasn't burdened by the technology like OOT or MM were.

My main disappointment with the game is that the sense of dread and foreboding that carried the first third of the game (the Twilight Realm encroaching on Hyrule Kingdom) just seemed to stop, and the whole fucked up anime style storyline took a backseat after the 4th dungeon.

gant's dungeon was crap, granted -- it was a set of awkward timed puzzles with a silly (and stupidly easy) semi-parade boss battle at the end. it was so trivial, though, that i really don't count it against the awesome latter half.

also, the game is stupidly easy -- easier than wind waker or even okami. i didn't die once, and i completed the game with 4 heart containers missing.

Yeah, them fegs at Nintendo rrreeeaaaally need to bump the difficulty up on Zelda games.  They did alright with Galaxy (easy, but challenging stars along the way).

I found dungeon 2 (the lava dungeon) to be pretty tough, since falling into the lava takes off 2 hearts, and at that point you only have like 4-5, but yeah after that point, most of the action elements in the game game become a cakewalk. The Yeti sled heart container was a total PITA to get, a couple of the puzzles were reasonably tricky (nothing on the Oracle games though), and a few of the dungeons/bosses wore me out due to their length. I still found WW easier, due to that game's love of doling out hearts like candy.

In the end, I do think Nintendo delivered on all fronts. Gotta respect the fan service. Gamers wanted a [spiritual] sequel to OoT, and they sure got it.

The formula needs a massive overhaul for the next Zelda, though. I think they exhausted this engine.

I dunno, its hard for a game to be easier than Okami, considering you could jusy buy 99 bones pretty easily

Okami wipes the floor with any 3d Zelda shitfest, btw. Fucking awesome game

If you think Zelda is better than Okami, you are classified as a Nintendo fanboy

although I did love the monkeys in the 1st dungeon in tp, they were pretty cool

I really like it but I won't say it couldn't be better. The story was godawful - zant was actually shaping up to be a great villian until Nintendo turned him into a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow to save room for that cigarillo Ganon. The sidequests are awful fetch quests and are extremely boring. The game seems to feel as if it could be trimmed. The difficulty was beyond insulting, also, but not Okami insulting THANK GOD. The wolf felt gimmicky since he does the exact same thing Link does as a human, so it felt like...what was the point? And past the half way mark you turn into a wolf maybe 3 times total. The number of unused items that you use only once in the game was highly increased, which sucked because the game's gadgets - especially the spinner - felt REALLY underused and were extremely neat ideas.

The overworld was bland and empty, and extremely boring which was disapointing since I - one of the few - loved WW's world. In fact, that's my biggest complaint with the game; it feels too safe, too secure, and the game relies heavily on fan service. I loved Wind Waker, even when it came out (no TP backlash here so I can jump on WW's nuts! Always been a fan) and I just felt that, by the end of it, TP was pedestrian in comparison. The Wind Waker was a far more creative effort in my eyes and I will always cherish that game. It is a great game. Zelda and Ganon felt shoehorned into the game even more than usual, especially Ganon since Zant was the far more interesting villian before Nintendo fucked him up.

That said, I enjoyed it a lot. Midna ruled, the game has by far the best Zelda dungeons yet. the first half of the game did a lot to change the age old boring ass stank go to these three dungeons and get this blah blah blah, but then the second half degraded into mindless typical Zelda drivel when it had the potential to go beyond that. Fishing was relaxing as hell too, so I'll give it points for that.

I liked TP a lot but I think the game goes to show that Zelda's formula is seriously wearing thin and Nintendo needs to add some spice into the mix without resorting to petty fanservice to appeal to drooling nerdlingers who care so much about Zelda plots they follow a timeline, because that really ruined for the rest of us; Wind Waker was a great game. I want Wind Waker 2 goddamit.
