This may sound like a dumb question, but, TVC, are you keeping the 360 add-on? I know you do a lot of ripping and encoding?
For the time being, yes. I'll make a decision in a year when the situation needs to be re-evaluated.
I hope to use my 360 add-on to rip my hd-dvd collection into a media server. Is it a hard process? I've yet to hook up my 360 drive to my pc (I'll need a new pc to rip) but that's my 'consolation' prize to hd-dvd losing the war.
There's no telling if that's the last upcoming hd-dvd worth owning, as Paramount and Universal are still putting up a strong front. There haven't been any huge announcements though.
Right now I'm trying to decide if I'll be picking up every relevant hd-dvd that is at least as good as it's blu equivalent, just for the ability to easily rip it's contents to a media server. I'm much more likely to network my hdtvs in the future rather than outfit them with blu machines, although perhaps I'll do both. I'd really rather use a media server solution for all my movies/music/tv shows in my house as opposed to carrying the media from room to room and constantly removing it from it's case.
Either way, I'm not paying more than $10 shipped for any hd-dvd from this point forward. I've got a nice collection of over 30 though, and I'm looking forward to filling it out.
