lyte - what sort of net connection are you using? i'm interested in something for browsing on the train but i'm not sure if this is possible yet. emobile seem to have a very inexpensive service that's about 7-8Mbps - is that compatible with the Touch, i wonder?
i have no interest if it means stealing wi-fi at starbucks or whatever.
The iPod Touch will work with any available wi-fi signal available. It seems to be stronger than my PSP and DS Lite's wi-fi connections too. I actually don't even have wi-fi right now; someone in my apartment complex has a wi-fi connection that is completely unprotected, and I have been using it nonstop since I got the iPod in December.

The iPod Touch's Safari browser is incredibly fast and loads up everything much faster than the PSP and DS Lite. It is by far the best portable internet device I have ever used, and I can see why people are going nuts for the iPhone...it allows you to view pages vertically or horizontally, typing is incredibly responsive, editing is a breeze, and you can easily use your fingertipes to zoom in and out if needed. Usually just double tapping the screen will make the text on a page fit the screen perfectly too.
I don't know how emobile works, but if it's just a matter of being in an available area and having access, I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Touch. You might want to try asking on the Macrumors.com forum .
