I dun get cable, but I know everything they're going to say anyway.  There is only one "real" source of direct info on Caligula, and it's not one that can be taken seriously.  Same goes for Nero.  It appears that the currently accepted way to talk about both of them is to precede every sentence with caveats concerning the verity of the following claim.  Since Caligula doesn't come up so often, he can generally be safely ignored.  Since Nero has had 2 millennia of Christian bullshitting working against him, it seems okay to pretend that he did the terrible things attributed to him.

Yeah, last two times I watched the "History" Channel, they had documentaries on Edgar Cayse (renowned psychic and successor to Nostradamus) and another one on whether or not the Atlantis civilization built the Egyptian pyramids.  You know, because those sand distinguished black fellows were just too backwards to construct something as grand as the pyramids*.

*Implied message.

So, I don't take the History Channel so seriously anymore.

Most of Nero and Caligula's records were written mostly by one person, who hated them both.  It would be similar to "The Life of Jimmy Carter" by Rush Limbaugh.
