Over at GAF this morning someone made a thread about the possibility of PGR continuing on the PS3 and he made some comment that PGR4 looks better than GT5, and after playing Prologue I gotta agree but of course most everyone there fucking freaks out. Does anyone else feel that PGR4 looks better than GT5 or am I just standing alone in a sea of craziness? I've never been a fan of PGR or racing games in general but I'll be damned if PGR4 isn't the most impressive looking one I've ever played.

But I think as far as just pure car detail, GT5 would win.

Yeah, I agree that GT5 has better car modeling, no doubt about it, but nothing on that Prologue demo was anywhere close to being as impressive as say the New York course during a heavy rainstorm.

yup, i agree with you. pgr4 is the best looking next gen racer to date. gt5 is basically gt4 in hi-res. i expect gt6 whenever that comes out to trump everything though.

Full Motion is better to PGR4. The screen caps for GT5 and car detail do look sick, though.

I'd say PGR4 is the smoothest looking 30fps I've ever seen. That motion blur helps a ton.

Most amazing thing about GT5P is the 4xAA, as a filthy xbot i feel ashamed of both Forza and PGR with their inferior 2xAA.

It would've gotten a hell of a lot more attention if they just waited until January to put it out. MS is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.

I honestly had little to no love for the PGR series. I didn't like the Kudos system and really didn't think PGR3 was all that impressive visually. I'm about as far removed from a PGR fan as you can get. The only reason I even tried PGR4 was just out of sheer boredom and that the fact that the place that I normally get my games from was out of everything I wanted to play so PGR4 won out of default. The game may not translate too well to still screens but when you see the thing running in Shanghai, Macau, or New York with the weather effects turned on, you really begin to appreciate just how incredible it all looks. It's a surprisingly remarkable step up from PGR3 both in the visuals and gameplay.

PGR4 is the king of great but overlooked games of this generation, imo.

I really think the effects look kind of gaudy.

But at a higher resolution at double the framerate and with more cars, I kind of see why GT5 isn't doing all that.

Wow, pretty amazing shots. The only area where PGR4 loses to GT5 is lighting and shadowing. But GT5 makes their lighting look realistic by making everything really dark, which is kinda annoying during gameplay.
