I just got the 500 perfects achievement, around the end of disc 3

youre obviously not getting enough perfects AV, smh

up to disc 4 now. Just cruising around looking for seeds and shit. Definitely going to nail all the sidequests once I beat the game. Gamerscore

After having not played LO for a week, I finally beat the boss at the end of disc 1 today.  It was a much easier battle than I expected.  Unfortunately, like Beezy, I also missed out on the crystal fragments

sidequest.  What was the prize anyway?  


I had expected to put the game away for a long time after beating Disc 1 because the game just hadn't done anything to pull me in at all.  However, Disc 2 is starting to make me warm up to the game.  

Mostly because the combat gets a lot better once Mack joined the party because his skills are so useful for the immortals.  Last time I posted in this thread, I was complaining about the balance between melee

and magic.  Now that Kaim and Seth have picked up a few more skills and better weapons, the balance has gotten much better and I can finally use the immortals for more than just absorbing damage.

as for that sidequest reward, i heard it's just an accessory for +hp or something, don't worry about it.

I quit on disc 3.  Slowass start killed the momentum for me.  I am sure it picks up, but again, the Kirby Air Ride argument--I don't like wading through an indeterminate amount of shit to get to n amount of good hours.  Lulls suck.  But I got 20 hours out of the game, so I guess it was worthwhile.

in disc 3, shit gets serious.

i just finished disc 3 myself and so far i enjoyed it more than BD.

i hope we see more of LO in the future, whether the story is shit or not (which i don't believe it is), i am liking the "gameplay" part far more than BD.

Anywho, Disc 2 > Disc 1 > Disc 3. Flip the last two if you didn't dig the story at all in Disc 1, but I preferred the glut of dreams and focus on the characters to no dreams and big setpieces.

personally, i think disc2 is the weakest.

disc 1 wins because of the emotional stuff and reading dreams for the first time.

disc 3 is a comeback to the old ffs (psx) with all the fmvs and epic shit going on.

I didn't like how I got maybe 2 dreams on the whole disc, they should have removed some from the intro of Disc 1 and put them here.

The setpieces were cool and all, but

Once they happen the disc just turns into mop-up. You don't take the fight to the enemy, you spend 5 hours doing nothing but finding your teammates. Whee.

Not only that, the environments are repetitive. Maybe that's the real problem for me, my favorite part of RPGs is the environment variety.

Also, I feel like their efforts to make a more personal story have been more successful than their attempts at making this an epic save the world affair. We'll see how I feel when its over, I definitely look forward to doing all the side stuff on Disc 4 and maxing out my mortals.

If they had let you do 1/3rd of this Disc 4 stuff on Disc 3 (maybe the Backyard, at least?) it would have been way better, now I feel like I'm going to put the story on hold for 8 hours of questing. We'll see.

Ice sucks! 

There wasn't near enough interaction in Disc 3, we coulda got a lot more out of Sed/Seth and Ming/Jansen but we didn't.

Disc 3 could have had more Seth flashbacks, or even some Ming flashbacks, or just load up some Kaim ones in Ghotza. I think he had like two in that fishing village and that was it for the rest of the disc.

Once again I practically spent the whole day playing this game,some achievements,not as much but achievements none the less.

I've beaten the game and overall it is a good game. My only gripes are the random battles,they start to get a little too frequent at times and started to annoy the crap out of me.I also wish the overworld was better made and if you're going to force us to use two ships,at least make them equally fast,one of them is painfully slow.The loading times are only bad when you're in rush otherwise they're decent.

If you're going to the Temple of Enlightenment,I recommend starting a second slot if you don't want to be too overpowered for the finale(You pretty much gain a level per fight) Disc 4 can either be the longest or shortest disc depending on what you do.Lots of CG towards the end.Story is alright but I found myself wishing they did more.

This certainly has one of the better endings in my gaming experience.I love the ending song.

I had such a bad time with the end bosses of FFVII and VIII initially that now I instinctively do some serious side-questing etc. before the final boss.

Blue Dragon 2 is confirmed already, and Lost Odyssey was recently called a "series" by one of its producers or some such shit. It sold to expectations in Japan, it seems to be doing well in the US, and if #5 placement in some Euro chart is sufficient for a BD sequel then it should be for this.
