Dishwasher is pretty f'n cool. I can see the other games being free but this one seems pretty elaborate for a free game. They might have overdone it on the effects though, as sometimes there's too much going on in the screen to see incoming attacks. Still it's pretty impressive and more fun and imaginitive than most XBLA games.

You downloaded the wrong file. It happened to me too. Just go to the Marketplace > New Arrivals > Games and scroll all the way down for the right file.

Culture isn't bad. In Culture, you have an arsenal of flowers. There are various weeds growing on the game world and you have to kill them before they grow out of control. Pretty simple. Not sure if I'd pay a full game but we'll see.

Jellycar is actually pretty cool. It's reminiscent to Crayon Phsyics.

Took me all of 2 seconds of reading the sidebar to figure out which thing to download. The big FREE label helped too.

Dishwasher look tremendous, I wish I wasn't stuck at work.

Also keen to try Proximity, there aren't enough board games on Live.

The Dishwasher is sweet. I'm not too sure about the comic strip cinematics though...it's so stylized that I can't make out shit. It looks like charcoal drawings left out in the rain. IMO, they should be redone and made a little more clear for the viewer. But no complaints with the game itself. It really is a 2D version of DMC/NG.

The other XNA games...lol. Jelly Car actually has some potential to be something good but it needs better level design and there should be an option to progress to the next level without having to go to the main menu. I like the art style though and watching that car getting squished and stretch reminded me a little bit of LoccoRocco....a little bit.

I'd like to personally visit the fool that made Culture and punch him in the balls. The very definition of a non-game. Who in their right mind would think that paint by numbers with flowers would in any way be interesting? I've seen that picture of the orb out in space covered in flowers for years now without realizing that the concept behind it was mind numbingly boring. Worst "game" of the XNA bunch, and that's saying something seeing how Rocketball is also in the mix.

Actually that was the one game that I didn't try. Is it kind of like Catan? I just casually looked at it and my first thought was Minesweeper. I'll have to go back and give it a shot I guess.

No idea, I'm at work and cant try it till later. I just saw it described on GAF as a "strategic board game". If it's just a Minesweeper clone I'll be colossally disappointed.

Tried all of them tonight, some good and bad.

CULTURE
- Spin round a grass covered globe and plant flowers. FAIL

JELLYCAR
- Looks like Crayon Physics. Basically you drive a car that can get squished. More a platformer than a driving game. Gets annoying after a while since it's too unpredictable.

LITTLE GAMERS
- Cute Metal Slug knockoff combined with some platforming but with "l33t" humour. Surprisingly fun if you can look past the juvenile humour. It gave my sub a better workout than Rez.

PROXIMITY HD
- Carcassone with Numbers. Would be interesting in multiplayer but I suck at maths.

ROCKETBALL
- "Street" Dodgeball with shit controls. Totally indie in a bad way.

THE DISHWASHER
- Awesome beatemup. Well worth the download, really impressive style.

TRILINEAR
- Competitive puzzle game that just doesn't work. 90% of the game is trying to lay a tile on the same spot the opponent does. Another FAIL.

I ended up more impressed than I expected, Dishwasher, Jellycar, Proximity HD and Little Gamers are things I'd try if they got full releases. Some of these would be great as sub 400 point XBLA games. Dishwasher is probably the only one I'd pay 400 points for though.

It's interesting to see the sort of games being created with them, and thankfully they're not the same as your standard XBLA stuff. Some more beatemups and platformers are desperately needed.

To be honest I wasn't expecting a great deal out of it and was surprised. It did get very old quickly.

I wish we'd see more 2.5D platformers on XBLA.

Love the style, sound effects got annoying, and like most physics-based games, I got stuck on shit and just got annoyed

Little Gamers:

Made me laugh, just from poking things with a stick, but god does it suck as a game

ProximityHD:

I feel like I've played this game before. However, the layout of the maps are really messed up, lots of ways for the CPU, or you, to gain advantage. Could use more balancing. I thought it was ok. Definitely not a showcase for XNA... this could have been done in Flash. Then again, so could the previous two.

Rocketball:

Another nice showcase of XNA. Too hectic on screen, so I just mashed X and hoped for the best. I won. At least it's better than Culture... whatever that is.

TriLinea:

Now this is something I can get behind. Take a puzzle game, and put in a story with spells and shit. All that was missing was some form of RPG element and we would have a WINNER. I like how you basically fight over the board, stealing someone's setup for a chain reaction. I also like how you can cast spells by arranging the symbols in a certain way. I like this, and could see myself buying it.

The Dishwasher:

Ok, I don't think I even need to say anything here. This game is just fucking sweet. Love the visuals, love the mashing gameplay. Not sure about the Dishwasher's constant animal grunting, but fuck it. It's 2D Devil May Cry. Awesome. Easily the best out of this lineup.

Overall, the only two I would even consider is TriLinea and Dishwasher.
