Hot Shots Golf 5 FAILS miserably.
« on: March 19, 2008, 06:44:19 PM »
can't save in the middle of a SINGLE PLAYER match.  but hey, there's an option to do a SOFT RESET in the middle of a match!  L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + START + SELECT!  it gets better:

Quote from: Hot Shots Manual
You can use this to interrupt a round in progress and return to the Main Menu. Be aware that the records for the interrupted round will not be saved, and you will not be able to resume the interrupted round.

 :gloomy :gloomy :gloomy :gloomy

i take back what i said about this game.  THIS IS BULLSHIT.  someone please prove me wrong and tell me there's a way to save.  i checked the manual and there is no indication whatsoever.  no way in hell am i going to have time to complete entire 9-18 hole tourneys in one sitting most of the time.

i forgot to mention there's a mandatory install as well.  and it's looooong.  ps3 :gloomy

I agree with Hyp.  It's hard to carve out dedicated game time.  It would have been a welcome option.

It doesn't take THAT long to do a game.  I used to play like at least 3 Hot Shots PSP matches before bed, and it didn't take that long.  Those are 9 holes though.

This is prolly going to be one of my GOTY picks.  Best sony franchise by far.

No I haven't yet.  I keep putting it off.  I know I have a 60 gig drive somewhere around here that will work, but I've accumulated so much hardware that it will take a day of searching.

FUCK, found it. . .the drive is ATA/IDE, not SATA <cry>

Prole, can you use this?

As long as it plays like Hot Shots and has tons of unlockable crap, I'm good.  I'll put more time into SP anyway.

Do you care to rescind this?

Ergh

The visuals are really shimmery.  I actually quit the game to make sure I had it running at the right resolution.  For a game without impressive visuals, it's a bit jaggie, too.

And the new shooting style kinda blows.

The Hot Shots Golf 5 threads showed us just how outright distinguished mentally-challenged and DELUSIONAL most EBers are. You guys are pathetic, worthless biased imbeciles who think they're funny when you're about as FUNNY AS STOMACH ACHE.

I'll read Beyond3D before reading any console thread of significance here from now on. Xbox fans are the dumbest videogame fans ever and arguing with them is just a total waste of time. This forum where 90% of the people are sold to the Xbox in advance looks like an alien wasteland.

That makes me hate and be annoyed by your fucking worthless guts even more! Listen, I WANT to hear great arguments, great rhetoric, intelligent replies by Xbots, but WHY DO YOU GUYS SUCK SO MUCH SHIT? WHY DO YOU HERALD FUCKING _DRINKY CROW_ AS A PROPHET?

That's the DUMBEST fucking THING I EVER READ. If I invented 100 grand claims a day that didn't make any sense, maybe one or two of them would become true once in a while? I prefer to stay grounded in total reason instead.

God, this game is so beautiful and relaxing. The same gameplay as in the old PS1/PS2 games, but now with  great next-gen graphics that truly make you feel like you're on vacation. OMG, the lighting! OMG, the traditional japanese golf course that's next to the sea looks HOT!

Best game of next-gen with + best reason to own a PS3 yet, HANDS DOWN

once home gets here , it'll be awesome - we could get a gang of us together in the Home HSG lobby and then log on and chose a game to play in in HSG then sit and have a good social fun time in the lobby.

We can race each other down the banisters! wwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I'd rather not use voice chat anyway, it ruins the atmosphere. After the game we can go back to my pad for a post match discussion of ways Little Big Planet will advance gaming and why it can only be realised on the PS3

I have to admit that I only used it for a few holes, but I found the advanced shot to not give enough visual feedback for me to effectively play the game.  Give me the precise, old school sliding bar any day.

I'd be happy with advanced shot if Japan stumbled into the new century and allowed me to use an analogue stick for my swing. But tring to time button presses on animation with poor feedback? EPIC FAIL

fuck analog stick -- that ain't hot shots. i don't like the advanced swing much -- like tvc says, it lacks any useful feedback -- but its lightyears more engaging than a tiger woods-esque analog shit swing. or worse: WAGGLE SWING. the appeal of hot shots isn't that it tries to accurately recreate the feeling of golf, but rather it plays like one of those old artillery games from the apple ii era.

Yeah, same here.  When I say 7 above, I mean 7 in comparison to what it could have been with some slight improvements, and in comparison to the near perfection of the PSP games.

Is there a US release date for the second PSP game?

What the fuck NO.  It's your typical Hot Shots style game with excellent controls (for once Wii comes through) and no general interface bullshit problems.  You fucking load it up and go play golf.  No waiting 3 hours to install, no problems, no nothing...just fun.

I don't believe you've played this game anyway.  Just like how you never played Sengoku Basara 2 yet trolled that anyway.
