In all the screens I've seen of LOTRO, the spaces are just too clean and nice. WoW+WAR (That hour-long vid I saw got me PUMPED for the game) FTW

To be honest, I think you'd like it.  Well, if you aren't into PvP at all.  The lore shit is really well written, and it plays very similarly to WoW with some slight changes.  Titles and shit are cool, and I wish WoW would rip off their addictive achievement-like system.  The big problem when I played was that there wasn't a ton of content yet, and at the time it wasn't particularly solo-friendly past the first few levels.

Give the trial a shot.  It's a smidge more technically demanding than WoW.

I actually prefer LOTR: Online's artstyle to WoW. Its not as vibrant but its cool seeing familiar settings, ruins and enemies (the enemy you meet within the first 10 minutes of playing the game is wow).

It literally plays like WoW but with LOTR skin applied. The Skill system isn't as invovled as WoW though.

I love my Man Burgler

I played the 1 week free trial.  Pretty good but the art design isnt that great.  From what I have played of Wow, nothing can match that game's art.

this free trial downloader is not my friend

i set it to download last night while i slept and the thing decided to freeze a few times instead

now it's asking me to re-register while it finishes its downloads but when i register something different, it tells me this product key is already in use, which is true because i registered everything last time

alas.

i'm going to simply let it finish downloading then try to use the files to play on the account i initially created.

I'm on XP right now but that sucks you ran into that issue :(

I just began the Weaponsmith vocation which means I can mine now which means that all I'll be doing for a while :lol

Here are two new screencaps I took..

I really dig the clean, realistic and non ultra stylized world that Turbine made with this game. The game seems to be massive too. Looking at the map of Middle Earth and what seems to be traversable...omg

I liked how the downloader went to 650% when it was downloading updates.

I made Fubukiel of Gondor, she is a Champion. The game seems kinda WoW ripofftastic, so I'm kind of perplexed why I should play this instead of shoot for my mount this weekend.

The update process was painful :(

You install the damn thing thinking you can jump in (or they'll be just a little update, but no, it felt like it was downloading gigs of stuff).

And I guess if your already set in the WoW world with a high level character, maybe playing through LOTR: Online will make you feel like your retreading the same ground. I didn't get too far into WoW though.

this game is really a lot of fun

it's a total wow rip in look and feel, but there's also enough progression that it is its own beast.

utterly enjoyable so far.

i just made a captain and that's fun.  not as fun as champion, but it certainly requires more skill to play the character.

It honestly is. The whole Deed System adds another layer of addiction too it. Also, I forget how WoW handles Crafting but I like how Weaponsmithing is done in this game (creating different parts, like the Blade and Hilt and using the individial parts to mold together into weapons).

The Auction system is nearly exactly like WoW too

Also, the Burgler is the equivlent to WoW's Assassin. Its fun to use but you need a lot of patience (using Stealth and Stealth based attacks to get a jump on a foe).

i really like how they do the introductions to the game with the instances, then the opening zone, then the closing instance.

the questing and lore so far seems really well done.

i'm not a lotr fan at all, but i'm really enjoying this so far.

don't know how it plays long term, but i'm enjoying this enough to possibly but the full retail version when my trial is up.

not a fan of the rogue gameplay model at all.  i think i'm about to give a lore master a shot or possibly a minstrel just to see how they play

the fact that i can now skip the introductory instances and get all the items, gold and such  is another good idea

That sounds interesting. Bards sound like they would be sort of like the Burgler where they're there to buff the team (just assuming).

Lore Master sounds cool. Sounds like it would mix well with the Scholar vocation.

i think i'm going to stick w/ the champion for now.

pretty much perfect to how i like to play.  has been very good in the few fellowships i've been involved in.

i picked up the historian package for my crafting.  crafting seems way more complicated in this game than in wow, which means it will probably be more expensive.

The equipment actually begins to look cool in the higher levels (seeing Elites with Lv. 50 gear makes me go woah). And after you get out of Archet, the areas really do open up and take on variety. Theres the Marsh area, the Woods and Bree-Town (which seems to be the Hub of LOTR: Online). Thats just the first areas too, theres still the Shire, Misty Mountains and The North.

I've already ran into some Southron foes (a couple were Half Orcs). They would have owned me though, being a couple of levels higher than me.

Wouldn't "Right Click > Give Admin Permission" work? (I think thats what the selection is called). I ended up turning off UAC completely on my last Vista install.

One complaint about the game, Wood and other various components are disgustingly high priced at the Auction. There doesn't seem to be much competition driving prices down. I guess thats a result of not having large amounts of users like WoW has. I'm actually thinking about making a second character to compliment my Weaponsmith vocation now.

Not sure how farming works but with mining I have the "Find Deposit" Prospector skill. The deposits show up as little blips on the radar (when their off the radar, it shows a little arrow within the radar to the area the deposit is located).

It takes a bit of walking around to run into a deposit, I would imagine its probably the same for farming.

*Though, I've seen plants that stand out from grass when walking around (but I can't do nothing with them), maybe thats what your looking for.
