Microsoft's Miis are designed to be associated with any game that incorporates the controller and create a standard "look" for the games. The avatars aren't tied to a controller when in use, as Xbox Live profiles currently are.

What's funny is that despite how react to this news, a Wii-centric approach to casual gaming will probably benefit Microsoft by giving them access to a much more lucrative demographic than us. Theoretically, if they could pull in casual games and satisfy their hardcore base, it'd make them a cash cow.

Because $279, a price that is likely to be lowered, is so outlandish versus $249 - OH WAIT!

If they can pull it off, the hardcore market won't even matter to them. It'll just be gravy. And at least their machine will have the ability to satisfy the hardcore market.

I do agree that a great deal of Microsoft's success has been due to Sony being distinguished mentally-challenged, but I can see where they're coming from on this. I don't know if it'll work.

nor will a wacky controller make your mom want to play halo. a wii sports knockoff with a bundled waggle wand would at least be comprehensible -- i don't know why microsoft thinks that motion control has valid gaming applications. nobody else does.

1) a game (the only game, even)
2) a stylish system not designed like a fucking brick house

To compete, MS would need a $249 or less SKU that includes a 360 with a HDD + a regular controller + a waggle controller + a game

they want wii. it's the hot toy. it's the new thing. it's got longer legs and broader appeal than tickle me elmo or any item in recent memory ever had. it's not a fad.

cause there's no internal memory in the 360, like the Wii? At the very least, pack in a MU... distinguished mentally-challenged casuals can't go back to the store to buy a card. Even a pack-in card might be beyond them.
