Why set R6: Vegas 2 in Vegas if the setting is a SUBURB
« on: April 10, 2008, 06:13:44 PM »
What is this?  I'm fighting terrorists in a warehouse, a rec. center (a fucking rec. center) and a LIBRARY.  Is there cause for art direction so boring?  the last R6 had some pretty top notch Vgas settings, where the second one could easily be set in Bumblefuck, Ohio.  So far the singleplayer game has failed to live up to the high standards set previously, mostly because the spawns are more "boo" than anything that rewards good tactical play, so memorization coupled with trial and error are the name of the game.  Anther problem that is apparent is the shooting angles they have set up are often times confusing, forcing you to spend time looking for the shooter, who is occasionally behind you on a higher platform ( :wag) I haven't played multi yet since no one is ever playing.  :'(

On a side note it is good to know they kept the same loony Ron Paulesque nightmare scenario where illegal aliens from Mexico are in fact, terrorists, instead of a plot that is topical or sensical.

Whenever someone asks me what The Irvine Company is like, I always say, "the Umbrella Corporation only less benevolent."

RSV2 has failed for me so far. I really liked the setting of the first one, and bought 2 on impulse because everyone said it was "more of the same." I wanted more of the same.

I'm going to give it a fair shake this weekend. If it doesn't grab me, it's going towards a Driving Force wheel next week.  :maf

The whole thing feels lazy.  Mechanically it is the same, but the setups feel rucshed and sloppy.  The first one did such a good job of directing the player's movement and focus within a boundary, but this one requires alot more puzzling over the layout.

I think a lot of the hardcore RS players may like the more open maps that allow for more tactics. I'd rather just kind of go with the flow shooting turrists for a few hours. When I played the game I felt like I wasn't who the game was made for, or something. It just boggles the mind how they could fuck up such an easy formula.

So much care has been put into the environment and signage in this game

I guess their texture editor doesn't have a spell checker

Nice grammar there
