Man, the months leading up to high school graduation blow
« on: April 13, 2008, 02:16:48 PM »
 :'(

This shit sucks.  Partly due to all my teachers fucking stacking all these pointless projects and assignments, and partly because I have to choose where I'm going to college in the next two weeks.  And that's a huge decision for me.  On one hand, I could totally go to Belmont for music business and audio engineering, but be totally alone and have no idea what the fuck I'd be up against in a strange new urban city.  On the other hand, I could go to the University of Akron and stay close to my good friends while getting my core classes finished up then transfer to Belmont after a year or two after experiencing the feeling of living by myself for a while while not being far from home.

And to top it off, I think I've fallen for a girl at the worst possible fucking time in my life so far.  She's like, perfect.  And she might be going to a school near Akron...and I hate that that's actually swaying my decision.

I know I'm gonna get a nunch of "man up, pussy" responses.  I know I have to.  But fuck senior year of high school, and fuck me.  I can't seem to do timing well for this shit at all.

Man up, pussy.

But seriously, high school is the absolute worst time to allow women to influence your decision. Now if you had been dating for a year or so and there's a definite relationship there, it might be understandable to see a problem. But, you should just do what's best for you.

Don't feel so down, life's just starting for you, youngling. Just try to make decisions that you won't regret (wear condoms).

don't base your college choice on a girl. just don't do it. every single person i know who chose their college based on where their girlfriend/crush was going has ended up seriously regretting it.

college is about your future, not about a crapshoot with a girl. you have to be there for 4 years so you'd better make sure you like the school.

You're already in these schools. Unless you have some APs to take for possible college credit, it's your duty to half-ass the rest of school. And don't worry man, either route will work out in the end.

But cloud is right about not letting a girl affect your decision. You'll find dozens of girls like her and better at college.

Dude, I told you that!  >_<  AND YOU NEVER LISTEN TO ME.

BrandNew - Ask yourself this: what is your goal in life?  Once you've got that figured out, make every decision from now till you reach that goal based on suceeding.  Romance comes and goes.  You won't recognize yourself in five years.  Even less in ten.  That girl you think you're falling in love with will be a completely different person.  Do not ever let emotions cloud your logical judgement.  Don't make the same mistakes so many have made before you.

fuck that, there's a 99% chance that relationship will fail.  people change dramatically and college and are completely unsure about what they want most of the time, so for the good of both of you, don't base your decision on her.  base it on me and move to houston and let me bang you

Dude, you are 18: any relationship you get in right now will not last. It's the truth, get over it. You're awesome so you'll have no problem getting better chicks in college. Don't let her dictate what you do.

You can bullshit through some classes but don't get lazy; it'll carry on to college and fuck you. Like me

No, I'm a senior. I just cut a looot of class. APATHY LOLZ. I can't stomach being around so many brainless morons anymore. If I'm forced to interact with these drones who go around spewing verbal diarrhea all over the place much longer I think I'll snap. I know the world is full of puerile asshats but the environment of Highschool makes me lose faith in humanity. The other day I was fortunate enough to overhear some cunt ask the teacher if "Shakespeare was that guy who wrote that story about that kid who floated down a river on a raft." Being subjected to dumb shit like that on a daily basis is wearing me thin :'(

I totally know what you mean. I was the type that couldn't stop working until the day I graduated. And it sucked.

I am a sophomore in college now....got 3 weeks left of school. 5 class sessions for every class left. I just honestly don't give a shit anymore. I'm so done with this year.

Enjoy high school classes. College classes (so far, so I guess that is entry level stuff) fucking blow.

I'm just done with this shit. I want to go home and enjoy the summer. I hate my roommate like more than anyone I've ever hated in my life and I have like six hundred papers to write...all of which I will bullshit in my room without even going to the library. I'm tired of my papers not even being read anyway.

Next year I will be rejuvenated and happy. This has probably been the worst semester of my life, what with getting really sick in February and taking courses that would bore a librarian.

Honestly I had two separate girls totally fuck with me and I'm just fed up with dealing with people other than the people on this forum, the people I usually hang out with, and the people back home. It really wasn't Airport Girl's fault because she was fucking confused anyways about everything, but Nerdy Cute Girl is full of shit. Between being fucked with by girls and the bullshit classes I really don't feel like doing work for I just want to go home and work a fucking minimum wage job for a few months.

I know what the right thing to do is, but I just hate thinking about it is all.

Bloodwake-I'm not really the type of person who gets drunk.  I don't really enjoy doing it, it's just not something I usually have fun doing.  I know I'm going to be around it all the time in college, but I honestly don't plan to do it that much throughout my college career.

The reason I might go to Akron is because my parents are going to be paying two college tuitions next year, and I don't think a private school that costs $30k a year is very fair for them for that first year.  I mean, I got a little scholarship money, but I've looked at the numbers and I'd end up saving more money if I went to Akron for a year or two and then transfer to Belmont rather than go straight to Belmont with my scholarship.  The whole girl situation is just an added curse.

We're going to prom together, so I don't know how things are going to turn out.

Yeah man, I was just halfway joking anyway. The point is once you are in college, there are going to be tons of pretty, interesting girls that are of a slightly higher intelligence level, and there's going to be social situations (such as, but not necessarily, parties and drinking) that allow you to easily meet/intrigue these girls.

But hey, your current situation sounds much more... cemented, that there might actually be a relationship since you are going to prom with her or whatever. In all seriousness, enjoy her company until the end of the year, then you need to move on and do what's right for you.

Well, I still don't really know how she feels about me.  If she's just looking for friendship, then I guess I can try and move on and just go straight to Belmont.  If she genuinly has feelings for me, I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do.

I graduated, I was pretty burnt out of school in my senior year as well, but in order to actually attend the ceremony, you had to attend these "preparation" things, and I missed one, so I wasn't allowed to attend. I just walked to the school the day after and picked up my diploma from there.

In fact I dont even know where I put my diploma. I am sure it is around here somewhere.

Mine sucked ass.

- Good friend killed himself

- My car broke down, costs to repair and labor (including new engine) was about $2500.  I was in debt before I even turned 18.

- 1-8 football record, worst in many years.  What is worse is that the coach actually tried to blame me for the game's loss (I messed up on one play and it wasn't stopping a hail mary.  It was stopping an option that got a 6 yard gain) and it was shocking to see all my friends turn against me as well (fuckers).

- Despite doing very well, GPA wise, ACT wise, PSAT wise, and extracurricular activities, I get shot down for every scholarship I apply for.

- With all this shit happening, I just grew fat from 220 lbs to about 275 lbs.

- No women and no chances of getting one (even before my drastic weight gain).

Sorry for the emo points but yeah, my last months sucked.  I attended that practice thing, went to graduation, got my diploma and got the fuck out as fast as I could so nobody could take pictures of me with others.

Let's see.

The hangout place I frequented the most with my closest friends closed down the summer before my senior year of high school, pretty much removing any chance of meeting any new people. The staff were ridiculed and cursed at while the place was closed down. They fucked them over good. It was a very ugly situation and a lot of my friends and I quit hanging out as much due to the lack of a common place. The staff left town.

Then, I failed out of a class because I was trying to have a job, take four AP classes with ridiculous homework loads, and be in marching band at the same time. WINNAR.

Still, senior year wasn't that bad. There were the weeks of Halo 2 LANs and DDR playing toward the end of senior year. Also, I got a distinguished portfolio score in a year where I actually almost failed out of English class as well.

Good times.

I was only in school for half days almost every day when I was a senior.  I don't even remember much about it beyond a few morning classes I had with friends.  Got to be part of the "marketing program," which means you'd go to a (very simple) marketing class 2-3 times a week.  This was the last class for everyone in this program and it ended a little after 1.  If you didn't have class, you could just leave around noon.  You had to have an appropriate job or internship to do this.  My game store job was, amazingly enough, acceptable.  You also had to work a certain amount of hours per week, but since I already worked on fridays and saturdays, I pretty much had the right amount of hours to begin with, and would only work maybe one other day during the week.  The class itself was complete bullshit; during the first semester of class, we didn't do SHIT.  The teacher would usually just put on videos or we'd watch TV or whatever.  Very little work.  Then the school cracked down and we got more work to do, but it was still easy and easy to finish.  The teacher would often be out doing other things and the class would fuck around with the subs.  One time they got a sub to let us all GO HOME instead of having the class.  This is hilarious looking back, but at the time I didn't want to go since I knew the teacher would be pissed (and she was).  But I couldn't be the only one who stayed behind and got everyone else busted, no way.

So basically my last year of high school was spent in one or two "real" classes (English and Math), then art class (which I enjoyed and we'd all mess around anyway), then either another hour and a half of nothing or break at noon for lunch...so while the rest of the seniors were doing mindless busywork, the marketing kids were off at the mall messing around.  If I had to "work," that just meant heading out to the store and playing games all day (no one came until the late afternoon/evening)  It was great.

They got rid of the program the next year.   :lol

And yeah, school sucks.  I found my college years weren't much better, although I did enjoy some of the history classes and Japanese.  So fucking glad to be DONE and I really, really don't want to return to school.

Like me

Aren't you one of the eternally dateless?  That's not true for everyone.  My cousin married his high school (actually junior high school IIRC) sweetheart; they've been married like six years already with no problems to speak of.  I think they did break it off for a bit during college but they ended up back together and got married when they both finished.

There's no question that you don't follow a girl, especially one you just started a relationship with, to school though.  If you happen to go to the same school, great, but she probably will change up on you.  By coincidence, the girl I liked in my senior year did end up at the same university (even lived on the floor above me); I was in the "friend zone" with her but thought I might have a chance.  I knew she did some drugs (she would go to raves and get really fucked up...we're talking really bad shit here), but this was supposed to be occasional use only.  I stopped hanging out with her when she asked me to dispose of this little plastic bag filled with white powder.  Yeah.

I didn't take AP Calc. I would have killed myself if I had tried. The teacher for it though was really great. None of her students ever get less than a 3 on the exam, and most get a 4 or a 5. I had the same lady for algebra 3 and trig and she was pretty hardcore. Ecro had her, too.

I took AP English and Lit and AP Economics. The cool part about AP Econ was that half the year was microeconomics and half the year was macroeconomics, so we took both exams. I got 3's on both so I got 6 free college credits. Then I got 3 credits for English so I didn't have to take this really stupid composition class my first year of college. It was awesome.

Now I'm graduating from college in a month and two days. I think for me, high school was better. I'll be so glad when this is over with and I have my degree and I can get on with my life.

Oh, for you kids graduating high school, it'll go by quickly. I know it sucks now, but it'll be over very soon and you'll wonder where the hell the last few months went.

Expanding on lyte edge's point:

My parents both met and started dating in 8th grade.  They've been married for 30 years.  Happily!
