Why the fuck are they silent on a PC version... I don't know if it is even coming :(

They're probably waiting on the announcement; this way, they can milk the console versions for all its worth. This way, R* eventually makes two sales for the impatient.

Do you have an 360 or PS3? If you do, chances are you'd just go ahead and buy the console version. Myself, I've got a PS3 but I'll be damned if I buy any "HD console" game that outputs at any less than 1080p.

So yeah... I'm also keeping my fingers crossed waiting for the PC version

So crimson, you have.. 3 games?

I want to love this game unconditionally. Someone said it best before that I enjoy it but every minute feels like I'm fighting the controls or the design. This shit wouldn't fly with any other title. Why can't I have a GTA that looks like 2008 without playing like 2004?

Can you imagine the shitfest this would have been in October last year when it was meant to launch?

It plays like 1998. The car missions are ripped from GTA3 which were ripped from Driver.

Good grief, that NeoGAF sanctioned GTA IV comparison thread is still going strong.  :lol

The hilarious thing about that thread is that most of the conversation is being driven by people that have only played one version and are just using still pics for comparison.  It's really fucking crazy.

now that I think about it, it's really fucked that I haven't had more shooting missions.  The construction site, the abandoned hospital, the one with mikhail, and the NOOSE sting op....the rest have been driving.  They've got a whole fucking city and a decent cover engine, they should make us use it more.

I have yet to go on a 6 star rampage though :D

do the most wanted list -- every single one is a shooting mission.

For the PS3?

Tekken Dark Resurrection
Virtua Tennis 3
Super Stardust HD
NBA Street Homecourt
edit: Pixel Junk Monsters
... and yeah, that's about it, really. Four Five farking games.

Of course, it helps knowing I bought the PS3 mainly as a Blu-ray player. The gaming capability is just a bonus. Full HD? My left testicle.

I've got my PCs and HTPC for my bona-fide HD gaming needs, thank you very much!  :lol

I have really enjoyed watching my partner play the PS3 version. I tried it, and I am kind of liking it. I am digging the story and characters, and it's the first GTA that I have enjoyed playing for more than 1 hour. My only complaint is that the driving controls suck balls.

I am not a fan of the series or genre (Crackdown is the only sandbox game I have enjoyed), but I am tempted to start a new game once my mate finishes the game.

Apparently Chuck Liddell is in GTA4 as a pedestrian.

Quote
If anybody has reached the point in the game where you have to choose btwn killing "DWAYNE" or "PLAYBOY X" then you have the chance to see Chuck as a pedestrian in the game, pick a fight w/ him, and lose.

You have to choose to kill "Playboy X." The mission must end btwn 00:00hrs and 01:00. (If not...it won't work). After Dwayne gives you the lease to PBX's apt, you will walk in and see a guard behind the desk and two guys sitting in the lobby. You have to kill them immediately, take the elevator upstairs, then come right back down the elevator.

When you get to the bottom you will see that the guard behind the desk has been replaced by a shirtless Chuck Lidell...this is Chuck, all the way from the mowhawk, tatooed head, down to his blue shorts. If you leave him alone, then you won't see him again. However, if you bump into him, or pull a gun on him, he holds his hands up (X), then proceeds to try to fight you.

One of his punches takes half of your life. The other kills you. So defend well. Have fun folks.

BTW: I got my ass kicked by him about four times before I finally said fuck it and shot him.

As the other poster mentioned, they want to maximize their consoles sales before it's off to piracy land.  No offense to the PC platform, but piracy is a big factor for publishers.

In time my fellow PCfag, in time.  I can't wait either.  I'll play the hell out of the console version, even finish it, and bore the hell out of myself with rampages, but I'm getting this on PC day 1.  Gotta see it looking pretty at 60fps and no vasoline filter/fake AA/shit blur of death (PS3 version.)

Given the quality of the hand to hand combat in this game, that's hardly noteworthy.

So I'm flying around in a helicopter and I get a call from Roman asking me if I'd like to get something to eat and seeing how I've turned the guy down a few times in a row recently I decided to go out with him.  He's over at the safe house in Bohan and I was kind of curious if he'd get in the chopper if I landed near him.  After several dozen of near misses I finally was able to land the thing right next to the guy and sure enough he ran into the helicopter.  I started to take off when Roman began to talk about how impressed he was that I was flying a helicopter and how they were really moving up in the world when I clipped a nearby sign taking the tail end of the helicopter clean off causing us to go into an uncontrollable spin right into a tree.  Roman got hurt and was sent to the hospital and I got a thumbs down on the relationship meter.  A little while later I get a call from Roman at the hospital saying he was just discharged and would like for me to pick him up.  Well by that time I'd already taken a taxi to the heliport and was ready to steal another chopper so I said yes.  I flew back in another helicopter and got Roman and again he started to repeat what he was telling me the first time about how impressed he was about the 'copter and moving up in the world, etc. when this time I hit a telephone pole which bumped me into a building that tore the tail off my helicopter and we crashed  sending Roman right back to the hospital.  Add another thumbs down. :/

I had been absolutely LOATHING the new physics

UNTIL

I popped into the dashboard view on a whim. From that perspective it feels like I'm playing Forza or something, and I've been absolutely DESTROYING the game and finding it way, way easier than any other GTA I've played before. I do have to switch back to third-person on motorcycles and helicopters, however. The only downside is I can't see what I'm backing into, but the benefit of ACTUALLY SEEING WHERE YOU'RE GOING AFTER A 90-DEGREE TURN SORTA OUTWEIGHS IT.

The looseness of the camera view behind your vehicle is appalling btw.

My ProTips are, don't use the handbrake, ease into corners and try to keep a good driving line. Basically, play it like you're playing GTA4 or Forza in regards to braking and driving lines. Brake into turn, accelerate out

If I could unassign the handbrake I would, it's fucking useless. You also get the same effect if you accelerate too hard out of a corner
