so i'm trying to do like the third package delivery for little jacob, and when I follow the GPS to my destination, I don't see a marker anywhere.  at one point it told me to get out to complete the deal, so I got out and i still didn't see any marker and i kept running around all over the place.

WHAT THE FUCK

i've done it like 5 times.

If you look closely, the yellow icon on your map actually has an arrow pointing up or down if you're on the wrong hight level. For that package delivery I'm assuming it's the one where the contact is under some kind of bridge next to the road. It's indeed pretty confusing, I had to redo those missions sometimes because I didn't have a clue where the contact was and the time limit is pretty strict

yeah there's ones under bridges or in tunnels.

the last one for Jacob is an absolute cunt. if you choose to start it at the wrong time you may only get 20 seconds to get there. if you time it right you can get 30+.

I'm getting close to the end. I got sidetracked doing all the most wanted missions for the cops. Right now i'm really pissed though, I think I killed the wrong person in one of those 'choose who to kill things. Maybe someone can tell me ...

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Between Francis and Derrick, who are you supposed to kill? I killed Francis because he was a major douchebag, and everything in the story so far basically pointed to the fact he needed to get capped. Then as I was checking the mission percentage completedness stuff I saw I didn't have 100% on him. WTF?? So I was supposed to kill Derrick?
[close]

If that was the wrong decision, I'm going to be pissed I can't get 100% off that shit .I've already did a few other missions and saved the game a couple times already so I don't have any way to go back.

Ah okay well thats good. Actually I went over to GameFAQ's, which is heresy, and read up on what I did and if there was an effect, and no - there's another thing that happens next its just I haven't been called yet to start that part.

Right now I have a whopping two icons to goto, I took out everything else, so I'm progressive nicely. I'm up to 60 plus percent done in the game, but I heard beating the game doesn't have to be near 100%.

Beating  the game is only like ~70%

The rest is shit sidemissions and ridiculous mandating.

Also I wanna rant on one of the stupider AI parts of the game, and one of the more frustrating side things to do, the Most wanted fugitives stuff.

First off, Rockstar should have put the option in that you can set and SAVE map points and label them for certain areas of the map you want to remember. This would make it easier to find things like police stations and stuff, to get a police car a lot easier than calling 911 and stealing it, and having to lose your wanted level every time you want to do one of these missions. Also your car can get fucked up quick as hell when you are chasing guys with 2 guys shooting at you out of the car the entire time. One of the friends abilities things helps you with that though.

What I'm more pissed about is how fucking stupid the AI is. You go try to take down a holed up fugitive and start shooting the BAD GUYS and you start getting a wanted level. This one mission they were holed up and shooting, and a cop car pulls over and they start taking out the bad guys. So I'm like 'ok, sweet, lets kick some ass'. I duck next to the cops behind their car taking cover from the bad guys, and start shooting the bad guys with the cops. What happens after that?

My wanted level goes up FOR SHOOTING THE FUCKING FUGITIVES THE COPS ARE TRYING TO KILL! And then the cops that are taking cover with me, suddenly turn on me and start shooting at me. At this point my wanted level goes up to two stars, up until the point I kill all of them, then my wanted level disappears, and the cops suddenly wake up out of their killing trance and go back to business as usual and get in their cars and leave. WTF??

Yeah the "finish a mission and everything goes back to normal" really takes you out of the realism. Like the construction yard mission, if you just shoot the union leaders everyone else despawns. ::)

I had been absolutely LOATHING the new physics

UNTIL

I popped into the dashboard view on a whim. From that perspective it feels like I'm playing Forza or something, and I've been absolutely DESTROYING the game and finding it way, way easier than any other GTA I've played before. I do have to switch back to third-person on motorcycles and helicopters, however. The only downside is I can't see what I'm backing into, but the benefit of ACTUALLY SEEING WHERE YOU'RE GOING AFTER A 90-DEGREE TURN SORTA OUTWEIGHS IT.

The looseness of the camera view behind your vehicle is appalling btw.

You have changed my life.  Driving is like a whole new game, it's amazing.  Why can I floor it and not fly off the road in this perspective?  Am I going slower?  Doesn't feel like it.

Anyway, I recommend everyone who hates driving for good reasons to try this.

Cool, Packie called me to hang out and a cutscene triggered while he was talking. 10 minutes later he calls bitching about me standing him up and he drops 18 points in affection.

If they get too low do you lose them as a friend?

I believe calls like that are scripted (unless you were doing a side-mission).  Niko automatically turns down their request when you're in the middle of a mission, and his response is always something specifically related to what you're doing at the time.  I don't think you get a thumbs down for it.

If those calls aren't scripted, there's apparently a LOT of dialouge sitting on that disc for very specific and relatively unlikely circumstances.

That's good to know.  I didn't even answer the phone, I hung up on it while it was ringing because I was doing that mission where I followed the drug dealer and didn't want to spook him lol.  Next time I'll answer and see what happens.

1. Answer the phone
2. Agree to do whatever
3. Call them back and cancel the plans

you dont lose anything

but if it's in the middle of a mission, the calls are scripted and usually hilarious.

Niko: "I can't go right now. This guy has got me by the balls"
Roman: "I too have my balls tied up. I'll show you"

Roman then sends a pic of a stripper's ass  :lol

or not?

P.S. Are there anymore great gun fights after Three Leaf Clover? I hope there is because TLC was the best part of the 20 hours Ive given up to this game.

The museum mission is similar, but shorter.

Is there any place else to steal a chopper from that's not the Helitours place?

I had a hell of a time getting to my car in Snowstorm.  You can only get out of that old hospital from the front and I kept getting lost in the hallways.  The cops are in the building almost immediately too, so don't have any time to figure your way out.

Btw, what's with this bullshit patch for the PS3 version?   I don't have any issues playing offline, haven't tried online, but I can't even download the patch.  Every time I've tried (once a day since it came out), it freezes while downloading and disconnects me.  Technically, this game is a fucking mess on the PS3.

Yeah it sucked, and the fact the hallways are so narrow and Niko moves likes shit didnt help. Once I got the car it was ok, but finding my way out was distinguished mentally-challenged.

Finished it yesterday. Still impressed by the game but they needed to get rid of some filler at the end... Too many chase missions and annoying stuff when I just wanted the game to end. Storywise the game dropped off too, most interesting stuff was all in the beginning and middle.

You dont buy a ticket, you walk up to the helicopters and do it

There are 5 different helis that appear in that place, you have to take each copter once (you can skip the ride) and you get the achievement

You have to constantly check back and forth

I think that I have finally figured out the friend mechanic. I always thought that the friend mechanic worked like dating, in that points were given for different activities, but doing those activities more than once would cause a slight decrease in points. With friends, it seems as though you need to do every activity on their list as opposed to repeating the same activities. Ugh, it is taking me forever to get Brucie and Little Jacob's likeness for me to increase.

I just got done playing it on the PS3, now I'm going to go back and finish it on the 360....not sure why exactly.  I liked the game well enough but now that I'm all done with it, I don't think I liked it as much as I liked San Andreas even with the improvements.

I still don't understand why people were busting a nut over the storyline in this game though.
