Same. I used to rent DSLRs for my shorts but now I just use my phone. I'm so glad smartphone stabilizers are cheap and widely available now, I remember when the Nebula 4000 was like the only option on the low-end and it was for DSLRs and it was a pain in the ass to set up and use. DJI Osmo Mobile, et al are godsends.

Plus I dig what Moment's doing with their cases and attachable lenses. The anamorphic one is :delicious

Them blue streaks :delicious

Dat native 2.35 ratio :delicious

Dat 5076 x 2160 res :delicious

are there any iphone camera attachments that can take really good low light pics??? i have made shit i want to photograph at night around here but i'm not about dropping serious money on a camera to lug around with me the occasional times i get inspired.

Nah attachments can't really fix that. Maybe shoot at a low ISO with a tripod + long exposure and then brighten in post?
fucking tripod??? nah i ain't looking to do all that.

i thought you said phone cameras came a long way.

 :beli

Sell your butthole and get a Sony A7iii for $2k where you can shoot at ISO12800

Thanks mang! Yeah it's really sharp and almost no vignetting or CA. Crazy good for the price. A lot noisier AF than the Batis but solidity and build feel is reeeeally good too. And yeah, that smoking shot, was almost pitch black in there so I could hardly see if the focus was good or not. Haha!

diffuse the flash on your camera, stick a piece of tissue paper over the flash

Or use a spoon, bounce that shit at the ceiling or a neighboring wall.

Finally bought a new camera today, which I have been meaning to do for a year. Got a good used camera deal, from a guy who clearly didn't use it as much as he thought he would, and now just wanted to get rid. Wanted a 70d or 80d really, but ended up with 77d that is probably more the rebel line than anything, but it feels really good coming from a broken ass old rebel anyway. EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is II usm included which is the first time I've had a lense that is pretty decent at some zooming. So yeah just been messing around fully zoomed in so far, getting used to especially the touch screen and the slightly changed layout, not actually going anywhere exciting yet. But I am excited to start taking photos again.

Apart from the obvious benefits of a long lens
in regards to reach I find the compression effect really fun to use in certain scenarios. You need really picturesque landscapes, and flat planes to use the effect in nature but I've found it works well in dense urban environments. Everyone shoots wide but a long lens is good for picking up detail and patterns.

Went to a blindfolded cocktailmaking competition last night in a tiny bar. Great fun, hard to shoot with all the people in there and low light. Luckily a dood was filming with a GH5 and a LED light so I could steal his light for some of my shots. Otherwise I just had to count on getting lucky with the focal plane at f/1.7 and ISO1600.

Here's some photos through the last years with my old camera, before it truly killed itself. Starting out with the lad Tomas Osmena, who has a whole section on Wikipedia dedicated to vigilante killings.

Lovs the shots, Hyoushi. And the gym photo is fantastic. Didnt strike me as HDR at first which is always good. Lighting is moody without being oppressive. Id love to train at such a gym.

The leading lines in the second photo are  :whew

Thaaanks! Yeah, I'm usually pretty conservative when I do use HDR. Also like to layer in details from the individual exposures if the HDR parts get a bit weird.

I love it. Its amazing how something so small in the frame can tie it together in that bird. The light and the dark. It feels as though its flying towards the warmth. The gradations are very pleasing too. And dont beat yourself up too much about being lazy. I'm the same way. I find forcing it isnt the best thing sometimes.

You've done macro photography right? Thinking about getting the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM, some guy is selling it fairly cheap close to me. Seen a lot of really cool stuff with that lense.

But then I also remember I don't use my camera nearly enough these days. Really I pretty much only use it at work, where all I do is throw it on their facebook afterwards.

I use tubes. Esentially extending the lens beyond the sensor which increases the magnification of the lenses I have. If youre truly interested in macro photography a dedicated lens would be worth it. It increases the potential subjects around you exponentially. But macro photography is extremely fickle. The area of focus is extremely thin, especially at 100mm.

I watch as a furious ocean churns
pale darkness
violently undulating from
the fierce winds
and some
baelful desire
dead eyes smiling
from the deep
one could easily drown in this
hungrily pulling you in
while continuing to surge
no different
each lap more dire
each lap the last
shallow becomes my
breath
as I ponder this indifference
from the
safety of this shore

that gives me the will to
go on
reverberate in my heart
this mantra
for it is
