Remember Killzone? Lets try and do that, then we can try and figure out where the license got its clout
Killzone was pretty popular in Europe. Not that it matters; Killzone 2, actual game quality unknown, is something that is going to turn heads. It's a damned pretty FPS with great artistic values and the craftsmanship to actually get some use out of the impressive technology. It features a sci-fi showdown story against iconic and decidedly sci-fi enemy, yet with familiar qualities (such as uncharacteristically grounded weapons and familiar symbolism) that will appeal to war game buffs and sci-fi dorks alike. The production values are clearly through the roof, so yeah... it will be
big. Honestly, it'd take one hell of an
opposing camp fanboy to first salivate over Gears and COD, and then point at that and claim that it looks unappealing.
Whether it will be a good game, that's another matter. But then I didn't have a lot of faith in Epic to deliver a solid single player game, and I was proven
real wrong there. There are a lot of resources going into Killzone 2.
