it may seem slow at times, but if you have s1-s3, you shouldn't watch one episode a day, or something. watch a whole bunch of em every day, and be amazed.

and s2 and s3 start out slow. but don't give up--they make up for it. they really fucking do.

The only slow parts for me where the beginning of season 2 and (kinda) the beginning of season 3. The beginning of season 2 was worse because it would seem like they drug out ten minutes worth of plot across an entire episode. Still, both slow portions aren't bad at all when you are watching multiple eps per sitting.

Pretty good first episode.

I forgot there was some big secret about the island having a monster or something. At times it sounded like an animal but at other times it sounded very mechanical.

Locke

I actually feel its one of the few shows that hasnt gotten progressively better OR worse. Consistently very good over 4 seasons.

Ye rankings (yeah, Im splitting S3 up, because it really feels like two different seasons, the decent first half, and the fuckawesome second):

S3 pt. 2 > S1 > S2 > S4 thusfar > S3 pt. 1

Also, MAF, episode 4 ("Walkabout") of S1 is the best in the entire series, so enjoy it!

The last 3 eps of S4 have been kinda lackluster, but I am expecting a big finish.

Its on the far end because its failed so far to deliver that one episode that totally blows me away and reminds me why I love this show so damned much. S1 had Walkabout, S2 had Man Of Science, Man Of Faith, S3 had Through The Looking Glass. S4 has been great, but I dont feel theres been a single standout episode of the lot yet.

I really had a hard time with season 1 of Lost primarily because I had trouble accepting the show's structure. I like flashbacks as a story telling device but to have them in every episode was a little much to take at first and even after acclimating myself to Lost's style I still find s1 of Lost to be a little bland, especially when compared to what comes later in the series. Season 1 was too much about survior infighting and less about the mysteries of the island.

For me, I'd rate it - Season 3, Season 4 = Season 2, and way in the rear is Season 1. The opening of Season 2 owns though....even if it does take 3 episodes to get through it.

Nah. Actually I bought Season 1 before Season 2 aired on TV and was totally turned off on the show up until the final few episodes, then I got sucked up into it and watched the Season 2 while it was being broadcast. I was completely hooked on Lost during the first half dozen episodes in S2 but then they started dragging their feet and focusing on the taileys (is that how you spell it?) so I lost interest in it again. I didn't get back into the show until I guy I know that has similar taste as I do recommended that I watch Lost again 'cause it actually redeemed itself near the end of S2 and S3. So I went out and bought S2 and S3 on DVD and became a fan again.

Just watched the second part of the pilot. I'd say it was better than the first part.

-The convict/marshal thing is interesting. She really doesn't strike me as a criminal; what type of criminal would try to save the marshal charged with looking after them? Plus, he said something about no one believing her story

-Don't remember his name but the guy who shot the polar bear=

-John Locke lol. Him holding the white ("light") and black ("darkness") pieces all up in Walt's face made me lol

-Distress call, coming from on the island? Perhaps I've watched too many adventure movies, but distress calls coming from an island=trap.

Actually though, I hope it ends on a cliffhanger and then gets immediately followed up by a 3 1/2 hour, $200 Million major motion picture.

I think most people's theory (or at least my theory) was so they could stretch 2 more seasons worth of content out into 3 seasons. It was originally 16-16-16 making it 48 episodes or two 24 episode seasons, until this season got cut down to 14 because of the writer's strike. I assume the other two are still 16, but I don't know.
