It's not a western thing because Capcom nailed 720p @60fps WITH 2xAA (on X360 at least) WITH decent lighting AND no loading in levels AND minimal screen tearing and slowdown.

It just sucks.

I still thing NG2 is a really good looking game though.

Agreed, in the demo the game looks great, I wouldn't have guessed it ran at sub 720p. However! the demo suffered of slowdons in packed areas, hopefully this isn't the case in the final version

Nintendo probably has a strict policy against outputting resolutions beyond 480p, or the GPU doesn't have "drivers" that support resolutions higher than 480p; it'd be ridiculous to think that the Wii doesn't support, say, 1024x768 resolution because the GPU can't handle it.

And in terms of resolution, PC >>>>>>>>>> HD > Wii. At this rate, by the time this generation is over we're going to play FPSs on our HD consoles at glorious VGA resolution.

Well, supposedly that one was confirmed by the pixel counters to actually be 720p. I think most of the "high profile" PS3 first party/partner games have been actual HD games. About NG2 though, I thought MS bragged left and right about its 720p mandate, what happened to that? Not that it matters to me, but both of these companies have been talking awfully loud about HD, so I think it's pretty fair to rib on them for failing to meet their own specifications.
