it's a shame aitd didn't turn out so well. i watched all the making of videos and the ideas going into this game sounded great. too bad they fucked up on execution.

the game is in my Q so i might still try it out. it can't possibly be worse than haze (which i played to completion).

And the driving is giving me trouble. I'm episode 2 - scene 5.

Do that part in first person view. Its easier that way plus you get an achievement.

Batlefield isnt perfect. Has lots of things i would change/do different/ Needed polish

but fuck its fun as hell. See that sniper in that perch? Instead of getting owned. blow the perch the fuck out.

Batlefield hate is unwarranted imo.

Anyways i heard Kmart has AITD at 10 bucks so i might see if i can find a copy later today.

The achievements in this game come like every 2 minutes. Level 3 gave me 15 achievements alone.

The wheels completely fall off in level 4. The driving part at the beginning was the worst driving part of a game I've ever played.

I finally got around to finishing this piece of shit for the achievements.

Worst fucking game I've played since I started gaming again in 2001.

did they expect this game to do well enough for a direct sequel? cuz that's what the ending made it seem like.

either that or their time was up and they had to ship without an ending.

then again i guess there is the possibility that the distinguished mentally-challenged fellows never had an ending to begin with.

Scenester- yes you can get 1000 on one playthrough, if you miss one you can just load a chapter up and get it there. i'd say you wouldnt be doing any harm by renting it.

and AITD > Eternal Sonata

I fucking hate Eternal Sonata

lol, yeah I know  ;)

I thought this sounded like a good rental, crappy survival horror/3d action is always good for a laugh, Stranglehold got panned (not as hard as AITD mind) and I had heaps of fun with that.

How long is AITD? Like 10 hours and a few more to get all achieves? My local store lets you rent 360 games for a week so that should be enough time? Also is it scary? I had problems playing Silent Hill games at night, mainly due to the sound, fucking terrifying stuff. I can handle Condemned and Bioshock ok

That demo was awful.  I don't know if I should be happy that it cuts off right before the driving segment or not.  Controls are awful.  Incredibly glitch filled.  Terrible in-game cut scenes with broken transitions between them.  Horrible controls (This time for the FPS stuff).  I can't believe this game has come out already.  The music is good, but other than that, I am honestly surprised that even Atari would publish this garbage.

And the script! my gosh, the fucking script! I think it was a requirement to have the main character say at least two curse words for every one normal word.

haha, yeah that part was sweet. FUCK YOUR MEDALLION

I really like the cut-scenes in the demo, but the gameplay angered me. This game and siren belong in last gen.

Eh?

Alone in the Dark was actually attempting a LOT of new ideas that really are forward thinking.  As is common for such an ambitious project, however, they have failed.  It tries a lot of new things and really doesn't get any of them right.  It's similar to Trespasser in that regard.  Nobody would have said that Trespasser was "rooted in 1994" when it came out.  No, it was very clearly trying something totally new and just couldn't pull it off.

Siren is entirely different.  It's a solid game, but isn't really trying anything totally new.  That said, many of the ideas in Siren were forward thinking even on PS2.  This new game executes them in a more solid fashion.  The controls can still be a bit weak, but it actually adds to the experience.  I mean, if you could move and shoot like Gears of Uncharted, the encounters would lose a lot of their tension.  The controls aren't bad, per se, they simply don't allow you to perform all of the actions you could in a dedicated shooter.

so i finally rented this, lol

game is actually quite enjoyable. Buggy as fuck but I dont get all the driving complaints, its on par with GTA4 in terms of handling and realism. Im about halfway through now

The PS3 updated version is getting a demo later today. Chances of it being better are slim, but I'll still try it out.

The PC version was $7 at Target a few weeks ago, so I deem that to be the superior version.

Demo is slightly less shitty than the 360 one, but it's still shitty.  The driving sequence is probably the most boring driving sequence ever.
