Nay on the stuttering bug as a whole. Had some serious rubberbanding in Legendary Greece last night. :/

Definitely does help with the terrible hard disk grinding death in parts of Act IV.

I dont have stuttering right now, what causes that bug?

Act V gets REALLY bad as soon as you enter the tower, but is then fine after reboot, does it fix that? Stupid door open effect!

yes, this is fixed in the fan patch. What I normally do for that part is run in, bear the lag for the first floor, get the first rebirth fountain, and save/quit and immediataly start the game again without even dropping to windows, works fine there.

Also fixes the chugalug near the crystals at the end of act iv.

the rubberbanding really does seem random, with a few guaranteed spots. I'm in part 4 of Act I (gorgon bosses) and it was going nuts, even after the patch.

Not really in the same league as D2, but very robust and complete when compared to a genre baseline.

how long is the game? I've been at it for 16 hours...still on act 1. I think that includes some AFK time.

also, the lack of 1280x720 sucks, but when I use one of the other widescreen resolutions, it's wayyyy to small for me to read (I'm about 6 feet away from a 32" LCD.....sitting on a big comfy couch.)

The major thing about this game is playing a Diablo'esq game at a resolution that actually looks perfect on your monitor.

I remember thinking the game looks fantastic when I first started it up. In my opinion though, I prefer the loot from Diablo 2. It feels more varied and the names and sets feel more rewarding when you get them.

it looks pretty terrible on your character, like pretty much everything else in Diablo 2 nowadays

d2 wasn't a looker when it was released back in 2000. It certainly hasn't aged well visually as a 2D game in the era of native resolution LCD displays.

Has anyone completed Legendary yet (without cheating?). My first character, a Ranger, stalled out in early Act 3 (up in the mountains). Now my second character, a Harbinger, has stalled out in the forest area (those damn dragons that shoot lightening).

The loot drops I get in Legendary suck. Almost every majestic chest drops yellows. So, I'm having a hard time making significant gains via equipment.

I have a DPS around 2800 and a defense of 2100. All my resists are around 30% on up.

I have on my harbinger.

I had to do Epic turtle passage runs to gear up, and then on Legendary I element-hosed the Act 2 Telkiene (quick run from the last portal for Act 2) for more drops from him. Oh, and farming Talos, who drops incredible loot.

At first my problem was getting crit too much-not enough DA and added more armor. Once I resolved that, I had to shore up not just primary resists, but stuff like bleeds and especially vitalty resists for Act4. Getting a good Legendary artifact is also a HUGE boost.

If you hit certain mobs that own you over and over, it's time to keep an eye out for decent yellows/greens that have the damage type you want to prevent, and then add a relic that enhances it further. Swap it in, swap it out.

It's pretty long, but Act 1 is the longest act by a considerable margin.

Act3 Telkine is rough stuff-he's got a pattern to him, though, when he starts lifting the block up you can smack him a few times. Always hated that fight on Legendary with a melee class, was much easier with fire-and-forget caster damage due to the massive kiting around that is required.

Wolves are worthless until the second half of Epic. Pump all of your skill points into Heart of Oak in nature. A terrific passive skill.
