My wife knew one of the songs in that trailer (it's like 15 years old) and was singing along.  It was scary.   :lol

We watched Book Of Bantorra 1-2 yesterday.  The second episode was definitely much better than the first, which was just a clusterfuck of "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?"  Bizarre show.

The first episode was just a mess of info-dump, horrible CG, and characters that I'm given no reason to care about. The third one is still in play, though to a slightly lesser extent, but the other two got mostly rectified. Still, I'm not quite feeling it just yet. Episode 3 will most likely be the make or break episode for me.

And that was from the first episode's PREMIER action scene! It's just mind-boggling that a series from 2009 could have worse CG than a lot of mid-90's videogames!

My other complaint -not that this really matters- is that two of the characters (big-boobed chief lady and that Yakuza-looking guy) are wearing clothing that is completely out of place given the series' 1930s-era setting.

Yeah, that's another one. It's clear that this is a series that really, really WANTS to be great and intelligent, but sometimes it feels like everyone involved is slightly in over their head or aren't entirely sure what they should be doing, so sometimes you have moments of brilliance shining through but then you have a lot of moments where everything feels off. They've still got a long ways to go to the finale, so maybe they get some momentum.

Yumeiro Patissiere - Pure food porn, with some classical music. Nothing special.

Sacred Blacksmith episode #2 - Story finally shows up, but main characters are still pretty flat and uninteresting. Seriously considering dropping this one.

Letter Bee episode #2 - A bit more of the same sort of thing from episode one. Art style is still really, really good. End of episode marks the end of the prologue and the start of the main story.

Rankings:

1. A Certain Scientific Railgun
2. Kobato
3. Sasameki Koto
4. Letter Bee
5. Armed Librarians: The Book of Bantorra
6. Yumeiro Patissiere
7. Kimi ni Todoke
8. 11Eyes
9. Sacred Blacksmith
10. Nyan Koi
11. Kampfer

Fairy Tail - MEEEEEEEH. Outside of the CG from Bantorra, this is probably the cheapest and blandest animation I've seen. It's flat, has a low framerate, and minimal movements. Background characters are embarrassingly undetailed. It doesn't really help that everything Fairy Tail does has been done before and better by a lot of other shows. The only saving grace of the first episode is that it has a smattering of genuinely funny moments and most of the backgrounds look nice. Thumbs down.

Rankings:

1. A Certain Scientific Railgun
2. Kobato
3. Sasameki Koto
4. Letter Bee
5. Armed Librarians: The Book of Bantorra
6. Yumeiro Patissiere
7. Kimi ni Todoke
8. 11Eyes

Finally got around to one of the shows from two years ago that I never finished: Moyashimon - Tales of Agriculture. Just watched the spring festival episodes and they easily, on their own, bump the series up from great to awesome. Especially the drunken lesbo scene with Mutuo and Oikawa.  :lol

Love this series. I heard the ending isn't very good though. :-\

I finally got around to watching the first episodes for ones of this season's best shows: Tentai Senshi Sunred Season 2!!

Never watched the first season, for whatever reason, but I'm already in love with this show. It's like to sentai shows what Cromartie High is to highschool fighting shows. The monster getting trounced at the beginning was so good. :lol

new Detective Conan movie was kinda weak.  Older ones were about the main detective case and had plausible solutions, so you could figure it out before they reveal it.  New ones, like the newest one, are just stupid and are more about about impossible situations that are solved by super suspenders.

Bantorra - A bit like a Gonzo series, but it's been really good after the terrible first episode. Episode 4 kind of throws a curveball though, so it's hard to say for sure if it'll stay as good as the past three episodes have been.

Aoi Bungaka - Serious drama series based on Japanese literature. 12 episodes, 6 different stories. First episode was really good and had some of the most striking visuals of the season.

That's about it, unfortunately.

Man, so far season 3 in Major sucks balls. Is it really so hard for Goro to join a team that doesn't suck? Why is it always "I WANT TO FIGHT THE BEST"? Dammit. I wanted to see Goro and Toshi as a BADASS battery. This gives very little fulfillment for the viewer.

We have seen the "make a shitty team THE BEST EVER" plot strand two times already in the series, why do it again for  THIRD time? On top of this, the whole"Let's go to a school that has no baseball club so we can start a baseball club out of nothing and make it THE BEST TEAM EVER" thing is a total baseball anime cliche.

Bantorra - Quality jumped after the first episodes. 4th episode was great. Could be this seaon's best show.

Letter Bee - Good fantasy series with a really great visual style. A bit on the light side early on.

Trapeze - Second episode came out today. First episode was so bizarrely awesome.

Tentai Senshi Sunred - One of my favorite comedies since Cromartie High School.

Aoi Bungaku - First episode was really good. Heavy emphasis on drama, no emphasis on animu stuff.

Darker than Black 2 - Haven't seen it since I never watched the first season, but everyone says that it's really good.

Aside from One Piece, my interest in anime tv series is pretty much nill.

With the advent of Gundam Unicorn and the Hellsing ovas, I think I'm pretty much an ova and movie exclusive guy when it comes to anime these days, because the anime series are, well, they're not good.

Watching a new anime once or twice a year is good for me. I'm no longer a teenager.
