It's pretty much the funniest animated comedy currently airing. Each episode has been consistently hilarious and, unlike the vast majority of animes recently, it doesn't pander to the animu/moe set.

Wow, how did I forget about DMC already?! *checks DVD shelf* Ah, that would be why. But there's no more episodes of that either, so something's gotta fill the void. And DMC is really more Adult Swim than shows Cromartie and Sunred.

Is the DMC anime ever going to be licensed? I've seen that the manga got picked up by Viz, but still nothing about the anime or movie.

I haven't heard about DMC anime being licensed yet, but you should have said Detroit Metal City cuz at first I thought you were talking about Devil May Cry. :lol

I thought DMC anime was licensed a long time ago.

The Detroit Metal City anime is still not licensed as far as I can tell. Viz picked up the manga, though.

Yeah, being a fan of the art style that was prevalent during the late 70's and 80's, this move is much appreciated.

It's awesome.  The more they announce crap after crap the more they justify my position on giving up on anime!

Apparently I'm watching nothing until the next Hellsing OAV and then Unicorn OAV1 after that.  I will possibly give the show by the Baccano team a shot after its done if people say it's excellent.  But since 90% of the reason Baccano rocked was the source material, I'm not going to expect their next project to automatically be great.

And no, that Sunred clip does not make me want to devote hours of my time to watch the episodies.  It was cute for 1 min, but I had to force myself through the whole clip hoping there'd be more than just 1 joke repeated over and over.

Hellsing 7 will be amaaazing though.  2 weekish!

FMA manga is bad-ass

It's a shame the 2nd anime series won't cover the stuff in the latest chapters.

yeah.  After the anime caught up with the older anime, I decided that I'm too impatient to wait and read through everything gradually.  The anime is missing out some great parts from the manga too.

I'm a borderline fan of the FMA manga.  It reads really, really well and is a total page-turner.  Good art too and some enjoyable characters.  Feels big and epic.

...but whenever I stop and think about the plot points I come away feeling the story behind it all is kinda lame.  I actually like the first anime's original plot much, much better (not counting the shitty movie).  Although Ling is an awesome character so I give the manga story that and Pride is way better in the manga story too.

I like the story and characters more in the manga.  Reading it all, it makes the old anime seem like they tried too hard to give characters a lot of motivation for their actions.  The manga is a lot more simple, but at least it isn't as contrived.

If Wrath doesn't turn on Father and fight for humanity I will hate the manga story.  They've been setting Wrath's betrayal up for years and now it looks like they might not go through with it and just have him die against Scar.  Huge cop-out if that happens.

The first 25 episodes were mostly based on the manga story.  The rest (including the movie) was original stuff not from the manga.

I've been there before, I know what to expect in terms of outrageous prices. Amazon JP has the first volume for ~$41, not too bad.

And since it will have been out for 2-3 weeks, maybe I can find a used copy at a Book Off or something.

Don't follow Gundam at all.  Like that Unicorn design...probably the first one I've really liked since those wacky G-Gundam mechs.  One day I'd like to see Turn-A-Gundam though...
