I have the opposite feeling... I think it's gonna be pretty good and the overall reaction will be positive except with your typical Sfag detractors that probably didn't play it or already made their mind up before playing it.

I expect it to download really slow, but I am excited to try it out. The recent trailer was pretty good. I am hoping the game is good.

And GTA4 did look amazing, but the actual gameplay and all that sucked. Plus you couldn't see half of it because it was too dark. It was Doom 3 without a flashlight.

If anything there would be a demo on Thursday. PSN, or actually just the PS3, is very complicated in general like that. Instead of simply being able to update one aspect, it has to kill the original one and be born anew. Adding a demo on Tuesday would probably override the funeral the current store is getting on Thursday.

I think more likely is the demo comes out, gets shat on, Denis returns to GAF to post "Bubububububu final build!" and then the game is finally released and is a ~7.0 game, and sells less than 100,000 copies.

So I just finished the demo, and....
It's not that bad.
It's not spectacular, but it doesn't suck.
The cut scenes are underwhelming after MGS4, but that was to be expected. I'd say the cut scenes are no worse than the cut scenes from the Halo series... not that that is saying very much. The script is a bit stilted. The voice acting is decent considering what they have to work with.
The graphics are ok, slow frame rate. I struggled with the camera until I realized you can change the camera angle with the d-pad. I suggest setting the camera to "back" so you don't have to baby sit it so much.
The gameplay is... well, I honestly never felt like I was in control of my character. The combat is slow. But I'd be interested to see how this develops as your character levels up. This game doesn't seem like you can really get a feel for it with a demo. They should have given you a demo that levels quickly or just given you a tricked out character to play with for a while. I can see how I'd really dig the game after getting into it and playing with a friend.
Hard to be super excited about this game right now. I wish it were four player co op. I'll probably at least rent it and do some co op with ferricide when it comes out though.

Shit will take me 2-3 hours to DL on my ghetto 15 dolla a month 768k Verizon DSL. I've got to go to class in an hour... I remember hearing there's an option where the 360 turns off by itself after a demo is done? Do I have to set this option somewhere or does it happen automatically?

hmmm

at first I didn't think I was gonna even finish the demo, but as you put some skill points into melee, the attacks get faster and the combat is a tad more enjoyable. It's also fun to check out the looks of the new equipment you get.

but: animation is terrible, combat feels floaty most of the time and I was never sure if I was actually hitting an enemy. you just waggle that stick around and hope all the drones disappear. fighting bigger drones is especially awful

Combat is better than I thought, although it's still not perfect. It looks pretty good, certainly not a bad looking game. Too early to make judgements on loot and things.

Story is absolute shit and the cut scenes are woeful. The camera is beyond hideos though.

It's not a bad game, just an average one so far.
