Its one of those things I'd have to play to appreciate, AA. It'll live and die by how the players play too. Watching the vid was great though and it'd be neat since it'd allow players to specialize of sorts without neccesarily dragging down the team with a poor choice as the team sizes make a few problems irrelevant through sheer redundancy.

I'm beyond disappointed by the lack of info regarding Team ICO's next project and equally annoyed at the lack of anything else really new or interesting.  What's worse is that he SPECIFICALLY mentioned ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.  That truly seemed as if it meant something, but no.  Nothing.

Nintendo and Sony both dropped the ball today.  I can't believe the most interesting conference this year was actually Electronic Arts.  :\

Overall I'd say Sony's conference was the most enjoyable to watch just because of Tretton.  I like that guy.  Probably the only PR guy I've ever seen at E3 that seems real.

Content wise, I'd say it's a toss up between MS and Sony.  MS had the whole Netflix thing, 16:10 support, total dashboard overhaul, avatars,  full game installs, Gears 2, and of course FFXIII while Sony had LBP, Infamous, Fat Princess (!!!), tv/movie delivery service, and Resistance 2.  Seems like a wash to me.

I loved the Ratchet DLC game and the price, and Infamous looks fucking great. Other than that, there was almost nothing shown for PSP other than the Resistance game (A isometric shooter ala Killzone would have been better suited to the PSP). The movies announcement was nice, since they will actually let you purchase content, but I still think Netflix will be more successful. The concept for MAG sounds super-interesting, but I would have liked to see gameplay.

there will not be 256 players visible at any time except as dots on a map, max sixteen, calling it now

sony definitely had the best game announcements. they actually had many new games to show, rather than "hey look our console has ff too." of course it would have been better to have more gameplay demonstrations though.

one thing microsoft did very well is their delivery. just seemed like their conference was better planned out and produced. it's why microsoft's felt like it had the biggest impact after being done watching it.

sony should have replaced all the boring, needless talking with gameplay demonstrations and a more in depth look at those home rooms... most people still don't know what they are for. all they did was pan around them.

if MAG can be a better Planetside, i'm all for it. planetside and joint operations have given me some awesome FPS moments that just aren't there in smaller scale games.

You are talking about its original, but didn't Battlefield 2 feature the same thing? (i.e. large overall battles, with small squads managed by commanders).

Nothing we didn't already know, and anything possibly 'big' (GoW and I guess MAG) had nothing of any substance.

Do like the PSP stuff, and of course LBP.

But yeah, it looks like the FFXII announcement is the only real stunner this year.

Just woke up. What was announced on the PSP front?

I have different expectations going into these than you guys.  I look for two different things: Good or Bad.  Sony delivered all good except the knucklehead move of removing any BC units from everywhere and not dropping the PS3 price.  Even for 'megaton' kids out there who want something to cream their pants about, there was God of War 3.  I mean, people were wanking off to that Halo 3 trailer in '06.  I did wish they would have announced more PS3 games instead of relying on the same ones we knew about for the most part, but whatever.

PSP remains the best handheld for non-fegs.  PS3 remains 3rd place in terms of quality and showed that infamous is going to be amazing.  PS2...it just better not be there next year.  After Persona 4 is release, just pour one out for it.  MAG also potentially seems like it could be cool and the developer behind it is strong, but who knows how that will turn out.  Fucking up God of War is hard to do, so yeah.  Resistance 2 looks like it is going to be a ZoE2 type jump in quality.  PSP is so fucking hot.

Nintendo had the worst conference ever.  Microsoft had a decent conference that people forget people of FF13; the demos at the beginning were cool, but the entire middle part was horrible..  Sony had a good conference without any surprises.  And it was a sausage fest!

When it comes to 'winning' E3, Microsoft has it if only for the shit announced after the conference like the great firmware upgrade stuff.  Sony probably won't have anything special after this.  Nintendo can go fuck itself.

Well we'll see.  It's not like it hasn't happened before with massive online games and even if it does see the light of day by the time it comes out it may be radically different from what they originally intended.  

I'm just going by history here.  We've seen it happen time and time again.

there were like 4 unannounced PSN games shown.  MAG and GoW3 had only been hinted at.  ratchet hadn't had anything shown yet.  some of the PSP games were unvieled in the last famitsu but we got our first gameplay.  some PSP games like SSHD and valkyrie were previously unannounced as far as i know.  

microsoft had...  nothing like that.

this was just some generic looking bullshit, even down to the "bridge choke point" that's been in at least one map in every single "war" shooter produced since the year 2000
