That doesn't explain it at all. Even if it is an example of the "two different reviewers" thing, I'd expect the second reviewer to at least try to explain his score when the band was previously hyped by that very website. I know Pitchfork is Pitchfork, but it's not 4chan.
Pitchfork is (obviously) a very important music news website, to the degree that a lot of people probably don't even bother reading anything else. They see this album get a 3.3 or a 0, and they will skip the album entirely. This is basically a death sentence. See also: The Cold War Kids. A band that was hyped by music blogs, but murdered by Pitchfork. Their record was
fucking great, but Pitchfork probably killed their momentum. Pitchfork, the past several years, seems to have it's own bands that it supports, and I think they may be upset that the Cold War Kids managed to get hype working outside of their "system."
I'm also a bit bitter about Pitchfork murdering the perfectly good Does It Offend You, Yeah? album. Only bad thing about that record is the band's name.
Have you heard the latest Cure song? Fucking dreadful.
I wish the Cure sounded like the Black Kids. It's a bit peppier and light-hearted instead of morose and plodding.
I prefer living in my fantasy world where Robert Smith committed beautiful romantic suicide in the early 90s.

what's the name of the song?
