Here's a story from earlier this evening that I want to share, as noone is around the house right now to share it with... it's the only time this sort of crap has happened to me. Be kind EB. If it's tl;dr just move on $:-\$

SO I was driving back from dropping some dry cleaning off near where I live... I came back on a road I don't usually take and it's got an intersection with stop signs for one of the roads but not the more major one. I stop at the sign, and I have to turn left... but I can't see shit over there! It's uphill, there's a raised lawn, a crosswalk to stop behind AND cars parked in the way. I'm sitting here thinking, man this is kinda dangerous but I gotta go some time, so I wait for the traffic that I can see to pass, then I edge out, see a car coming and speed up to get out of the way. The limit isn't very high on the road anyway so I figured I could just zip out of the way. It's not like you have time to think.

So this shirtless 20-30 year old white ude (bro?) in an old SUV swerves a bit to avoid, in my direction (I guess he thought I was going to stop instead of go to get out of the way). He doesn't get close to hitting me or anything but he yells at me, "what the fuck are you doing taco" or something like that. I know the term taco was used, it's not really a pejorative I've heard used seriously much since middle school. I'd have gone with asshole myself.
So anyway, I raise an open palm and make conciliatory gestures, grimace, and drive away... But hey guess what, apparently he turned around real quick (I bet that was safe) and followed me. He yells at me to pull over, so I speed off to a side street, hoping that I'll be able to stop next to the nearby police station, but I don't get there before he stops next to me at a stop sign and starts yelling. "Why the fuck did you turn in front of me?!" "I couldn't see! I'm sorry!" I yell out my window and again I raise my palms to the guy in a sign of submission to his mighty rage. "What do you mean you couldn't see?! I should pull you outta your car and beat your ass!" "I'm sorry! I really am!"
And I make more submissive body language, lowering my head and raising my hands. He drives off in front of me (again, real safe!) and I'm like... yikes.

I don't live too far from where it happened and I drive a pretty distinctive car, but I guess if the guy wanted to fuck me or my car up, he had his chance. And he didn't follow me home or anything. Still scarier than average shit, people get shot like that :'(
I'm already a fairly conservative driver, I guess I'll get even more conservative now for fear of more road raging maniacs. I'll also remember that saying your sorry and acting like a puss is useful... though I may have been less likely to do so if I didn't screw up a bit.

People are crazy. I was alone and unarmed unfortunately, but I guess I got out with too much trouble really.
I've heard/read waaaaaay worse stories. It's just scary to think one of those could have been me.

If I wasn't feeling lazy I could have walked it, but carrying a bunch of dress shirts gets kind of awkward after awhile. I'll walk to pick them up :'(
There should really be more stop signs there...

To get some topical local humor in, what I actually should have done is told him to get out and pulled a Bob Novak

Next time call the other person a redneck taco and challenge them on getting out of the car. Park, undo your seat belt as if you're getting out, then run them over when they get out of their car. Serves the stupid taco right. Faggoty taco.

What kind of weirdo chases you down to curse you off? Don't people drive to get somewhere? Why would he veer of his course. So weird.

Road rage is often hilarious because these people feel all safe in their cars yelling and all that shit. One time I would like to confront these people and ask them why they get so angry, then proceed to kicking them in the teeth so I can proceed to stomping on their face.

And I am aware of the hypocrisy in my post.

I hate these situations too, and they can bug me for a while. Best is to live and learn, at least then the situation wasn't a waste.

Maybe you could have turned right instead and taken a slightly longer route? And buy a gun.

Bildi makes an excellent point. Turn right and then swing around. If you feel someplace is too dangerous then go another way.

I've got a friend who screams "I LOVE YOU" at anyone who yells at him while driving, and it does a pretty good job of confusing people.

Eh, he didn't follow me far, I was trying to drive him toward the police station but he stopped next to me and started yelling before I got there. I'm pretty over it already, he's probably satisfied with the knowledge that he scared some unsafe-driving taco good

The guy's behavior was kind of redneck for this area really, I was kind of surprised... though he didn't have an accent.

I do. I wasn't really THAT close to getting in an accident anyway, the guy just flipped out. That sucks to hear about your luck though.

I was at fault. I was driving to work this morning and listening to the news on the radio when I approached a left turn I've taken a million times. The turning lane was about three cars deep and they all turned, so in my morning stupor my brain processes the green light as a green arrow. I started to turn and just a few feet into the intersection I realized my mistake as I saw a car coming on at 40 mph, so I slammed on the brakes. He slammed on his brakes, too, but it was wet out and it wasn't enough to prevent a low-speed collision. His car looked OK -- small cosmetic damage to the bumper. Damage on my car was contained to the bumper too, but it was more significant; the whole front bumper -- headlights included -- is out of alignment with the hood and the rest of the car and there's a big dent in one side. Not the worst accident ever, but an accident is an accident and now I'm waiting to see if I can still afford my fucking insurance. If I can't I guess I'll just have to find some other means of transportation.

The only road rage story I have was when I was driving in my sisters low 2006 Honda Accord.

The road was backed up, main road in and out of the City. He was coming off a side street 1 car back (he was in a HUGE truck). I let the car in front of him go but then edged forward. He sped up like he was going to get in front of me and I was like wtf, fuck you and got in the way. That really really pissed him off.

He proceeds to somehow get past people on this one lane road up beside me and hes obviously trying to get my attention through his window. I was fully stopped at one point and the car is so low (and his truck so high) that the my sisters car was partially obscuring him. I proceed to dip lower to the passenger side to get a look at him, he sounds like hes screaming at me. I keep eyeballing him, laugh and bit my lower lip with a sly smile and flipped him off and mouthed "Fuck you". The look on his face and what he did made me die. He literally started jumping around in his seat like he was going to do something. Then drove off angrily. Fucking douchebag.

Well, theres also the other truck that tried to race me on my local rt.2 in the middle of a downpour at dusk. I was driving my free shitty Toyota Wagon what would always overheat. Now THAT scared the shit out of me.
