It helps understanding what this will be if you played Indigo Prophecy.  It is basically "Quick Time Events: The Game".  I expect this to be similar.  It is very impressive looking outside of the blurring of the background.

I think it looks leagues better than GTA4, but except for the bike picture from the rear, the environments don't look amazing.  The character model looks great, as does the fat guy.

That is one problem solved already then! something appealing to look at for the stretch of the game.

now if they can only have interesting gameplay.

i never played indigo prophecy but it seems like an evolutionary take on the point and click adventure games.  i had fun with point and click adventure titles on PC.  will probably gamefly this game.

Not really. It was an adventure game saddled with action bullshit and the action was all controlled via absolutely arbitrary "QTEs."

Indigo Prophecy is about interacting with your environment. It found a way to make tedious bullshit engaging and it really makes you feel for characters in ways few other games do.

And then the halfway point hits and the game turns to complete diarrhea.

I really recommend IP because it's cheap now and the first hour to two hours are ridiculously good. The scene when the cop shows up to your apartment and the promise of the story being so "elastic" rocks so much. It just never really delivers because....uh....angels in a church.

i wouldnt say that... it was pretty much QTE: The Game
and what i'm saying is that QTE's have some similarities to how a point and click adventure game is played.  both systems prioritize cinematic elements over interactivity.

and 2ykev even states "Indigo Prophecy is about interacting with your environment," which was a large part of point and click adventure titles.

i never played indigo prophecy but it seems like an evolutionary take on the point and click adventure games.  i had fun with point and click adventure titles on PC.  will probably gamefly this game.
This is as wrong as you can get.  The game was excrement.
i've heard the opposite, more often than not.

I'm not so sure I think it's an evolution of point and click adventure games-- Farenheit is more about narrative than it is puzzles and discovering the distinguished mentally-challenged logic of a designer-- but it definitely is an adventure game. Eurogamer's review of IP is great in how it describes IP as an adventure game where Cage sacrificed core adventure principles to squeeze action into the game...and it really, really stands out.

The story, characterization, character drama, etc., is all top notch for a bit and then it becomes poopy but it's so, so good at first that you won't care. There's a 100% obvious jump the shark moment in the game and from that point on you might as well shut it off.

The last bits ARE the best parts. I mean wtf, it's just so insane and crazy that this actually made it into the game. No "cleaning up the crime scene" boring shit, instead you have people flying in the air, using Kung Fu, throwing water towers at each other... easily top 5 game.

JustinP, you should try it then.  The game is mostly garbage, with collosal fuck-up design decisions, one of the worst last acts in any game, and a pointless overuse of qtes (which are a bad thing in the first place, no matter the frequency.  It's only like 10 bucks though, so you can decide for yourself.
i'll probably do just that.  but i hear raving reviews for it, even if some don't like the end.

and personally i don't generalize QTEs as being universally bad.  not saying they're always a good idea or that all of them are done great, but there have been QTEs that i have enjoyed and it would have been a different (most likely lesser) experience if attempted outside a QTE.

i'll take your xbox copy if i can't get ahold of an uncensored PC copy.

Demi, your taste is so amazingly arbitrary that I can't figure out what you will like and dislike  :lol

The QTEs aren't even really engaging QTEs though. the QTEs in IP ARE bad QTEs. Even in Shenmue, when you are playing the game and a QTE comes up...if you need to sidestep and punch someone, left + a is the command. In God of War, O is the command for a QTE throw. It's all related and kind of tight. IP is just...simon says because they say so.

But it will suck monkey dick if the main character is a female. I thought this was going to be this big crime thriller, and you just can't do it with a female in the main role because...i'll just feel like a bitch.
