I don't get the deal about this game.

So you can make platforming levels. Yay

If you read the article, you'd know that the team has made (at least) an RPG, an Outrun clone and Tetris, all within LBP.

Yeah, only thing I'm worried about is the level editing and scripting features will be too complex for the average user... for me it shouldn't be a problem (I have experience with RPG maker, ZZT/MZX, and traditional programming), but I don't know if I want to spend the time to create insanely detailed and complex levels. I also hope texture design is easy. And I hope you can add your own music.

Apparently only pictures from the PS Eye can be used in the game and not direct one from other sources.  That is quite lame.  But hey, according to gaf this would encourage more creativity! ???

people are acting like the stickers are of some sort of dire importance.  i thought they've always said you can only import it from your camera (edit: oops. turns out the original unveiling mentions both hdd and pseye imports).  it sucks, but console games are always worried about copyright crap when PC games have been letting players do this sort of thing for years w/o any serious consequences, so it's kind of expected.

but even if this was some new revelation for me, it doesn't really have a big effect on my levels.  i certainly wasn't interested in trying to use custom textures made out of stickers for the whole thing.  i've never really had specific plans for using stickers at all, really.

Oh and what code could the home guys possibly have?
you can use photos on your hdd for posters/pictures in your Home apartment.

I don't want a drop of Home code running in LBP, it would be defilement of the greatest stature.

as an experiment, i took some pics with my PSeye and quickly threw them into a full sized screenshot of LBP.  the imported images are UNTOUCHED, except for the crop/resize.  that's exactly how they look coming from the playstation eye camera.  no serious preperation was done--shots were taken in poor lighting conditions and of random objects i had laying around.  i'm sure results could be improved drastically if i had set up proper lighting.  i was, however, assuming we'd have some similar options for camera settings that we do in eye create--but even if we don't, it wouldn't be hard to set up actual lighting to compensate and achieve very similar results.

to me, they seem to mesh pretty well without totally throwing you out of it.  i mean, they are just 'stickers'.

i think we can expect basic image manipulation tools in the game.  being able to crop, resize, adjust hue/saturation seems likely to me.

it'd be nice to inspect examples they've shown.  anyone happen to have a link to video showing off the camera capture feature?  music level video shows an example result, but it's at a bad angle.

That doesn't look bad.  My biggest concern is that if I want to get a picture of something through Google Images and put it on the game, that would take effort.  I can't point the camera at my PC screen to get a clear picture, so I would probably need to print it.  That is a pain.

They do, best flavor. I had some for breakfast. :drool

Strawberry insides and normal frosting on the outside is the best type of pop tart.

well, i misread your comment as 'google maps' and made a comparison for you.  i still think it offers a decent idea of what images on a computer screen look like in general.  i didn't print this out -- just pointed it at my monitor (which reminds me i need to get a usb extention cable from monoprice).  this time, all the camera settings are at default.  results can probably be improved--this was just a quick test with zero preperation etc.

and on a related note, i think another reason they use the camera is to ensure a consistent filesize.  and these tests assume LBP sticker capture can use the normal resolution of the camera.

and hell, if you wanted to put forth the effort, you could probably take multiple pictures, turn them into multiple stickers, and stitch them together in-game to get more detail.

Thanks.  That is actually better than I expected.  Not perfect or anything, but still good enough to give someone else the idea of what I was going for.

1upyours has so much awesome info on this.

The one bad things I heard about:
-You must play the first level before you can create things.  To unlock tools/objects in the create mode, you must get them in the single player game.
-The more people creating a level together, the more slowdown there will be (very little with 2, a good amount with 4, doesn't seem like any with one player).  Doesn't seem like any when just playing the levels.
-screen scales in size for more players, so if someone gets left behind, it is seemingly random with who gets left behind and who respawns (this is local multiplayer).

All good:
-Single player is supposedly awesome
-amazing music
-narration from someone in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
-single player is actually difficult and not a push over
-able to make multiple finish points in a level (think Super Mario World)
-the sharing interface basically are planets, each planet is a user, on that planet you can find their various levels.  In the beta there are 25 slots.
-MM is not going to stop supporting this game when it is released.  They aren't going to go and start on LBP2 or another game, instead they will continue to treat LBP as their main game.

There will probably be DLC often and constant community stuff.  They likened it to an MMORPG on the show.  Also, consider that MM are only a team of 26 guys.
