I downloaded Zelda: A Link to the Past on my Wii and I've been playing it off and on for a few days now, since that game is still the closest you can get to perfection when looking for the right balance of role-play, action, and adventure in a single game.

The problem is that I don't have a battery charger. I'm not used to not being able to plug a controller into a console to charge the damn thing. It really makes me mad, and want to cry, because I'm a poor and can't afford batteries.

Can the wise men's committee on EB recommend a solution for me?

Also, does the Wii have any good game yet? Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and Twilight Princess all suck ass. No More Heroes is about as worse as it can get and it's rather unfortunate that Suda51 saw some success (relatively speaking) with that piece of shit game.

I'd really like to give my Wii a second chance.

I like puzzle games, I like light gun shooters, so I'd recommend Zack & Wiki, Mercury Meltdown, Ghost Squad, and House of the Dead Return (definitive version).

Geometry Wars: Galaxies and Castle Shikigami III are also worth a look.

supposedly the last metriod prime game wasn't that bad. Boom Blox has a decent following here as well.

I don't own a wii and never will since it's of no real use to me, but if I was in your shoes and really wanted to "make the relationship with the wii work" (as opposed to just playing on the PC or 360) those are the games I would rent or something to check out.

Metroid Prime 3 wasn't just "not that bad" it was great.

It's less... "inspired" than the past two games, especially in terms of bosses and powerups, but the gameplay mechanics are much improved.

I farted right into the Corruption game case after suffering through the first level of that CRAP. Superbountyhunter Friends, to the rescue!

MP3 could have been good, I am freely admitting that, but after playing MP1 (awesome) and MP2 (shit), a third game was just really exhausting.

Best Wii remote charger is just a rechargeable pair of AA batteries.  That way they can serve other purposes.  If you are too lazy to open the battery case when they run out, then I can't help you.

Super Mario Galaxy was amazing, so if you don't like that I question what games you must actually like.  Link's Crossbow Training is amazing, but you have to buy a piece of plastic to go along with it.  Those are the two best exclusive Wii games.  Umm, there are other enjoyable games like

If you don't care about ports, RE4 Wii is amazing and the best version of the game.  And if you have friends, WarioWare Smooth Moves if fun.

MP2 actually had some really good design, it was just that the light/dark shtick and incredibly obtuse fetch quest messed it up.

Nah, it's pretty similar except that took out beam switching and made the ship into a kind of "universal elevator" that took you to whichever location you wanted, instead of having to travel across several areas and elevators.

But the story was pretty forced and stupid in MP3, I'll admit that, and the "fight a Phazon-corrupted whatsit in the same Phazon environment to get a rather pointless Phazon weapon" routine was so very bland and forgettable.

Geometry Wars Galaxies isn't exactly encouraging to a Wii owner who wants a long-term polygamous relationship.

It's bad enough that the only joy I'm finding with the Wii is a near 20 years old 16-bit game.

Now all I can look forward to are Xbox Live Arcade's hand me downs?

Seriously?

I mean, really?

I appreciate all other suggestions and will try them out for the seven day return period if I can find them used at a GameStop.

Super Mario Galaxy just was not inspiring to me at all, and every second I played it I couldn't help but feel the experience would be much smoother and much more tolerable if they had just kept traditional controls... at least let me use the Classic controller as an option. Or GameCube controller. Something. Anything. Anything but waggle.

Twilight Princess just had me herding sheep, jumping fences on a horse, and trying to retrieve runaway cats from the get go. That was too much of an onslaught of RPG crap for me. I had to shake my head in disbelief at the grim reality that Miyamoto let that pass for a Zelda game.

And as for Brawl... it wasn't that bad. Some of the stages are actually really fun to battle in. I just don't get together with my Nintentard friends that much anymore, and I still haven't bothered getting a Wii friend code or whatever the shit it is they want me to do or get in order to be able to play an online multiplayer game.

Anyway, hey swaggaz, thank you for answering my question. I believe the Wii actually came with rechargeable batteries, and I still have them (goes to show how much I actually don't play the Wii). The only question now is what recharger should I get? Should I be aware of any product features, brand, etc.?

RE4 on Wii was excellent, I enjoyed it a lot, but it's not like a new game in the sense that a new game is a new game. You know what I mean? I'll check out the Metroid Prime games, though. Guess I'll need to buy a GameCube memory card and controller now, too. Shit.

I use Sanyo Eneloop batteries in my wii remote.  The main reason I do that is because they lose power at a much slower rate than most other rechargeable batteries.  It is good because I don't play my Wii often like I do my other consoles, so when I eventually do play my Wii, I can just pick up the controller and not worry about it being dead.  I think you can buy a 4 pack of them that already come with a charger.  I am not too aware of universal rechargeable battery charges, so maybe someone else can help you with that.

Yeah, I mean, I seriously never bought shit that operated on alkaline batteries. Not even a portable CD player.

I don't know why I started with the Wii.

This is a good little charger. As for games, I really like RE4, Super Paper Mario (despite the hate it gets), and Metroid Prime 3.

You can-

* Run downloaded VC games
* Run downloaded WiiWare games
* "Inject" ROMs into VC games and play different games (example - you can run Earthbound that has been injected into a Donkey Kong Country 2 VC file)
* Homebrew - emulation mostly, runs pretty good for the most part
* Homebrew games - not sure how good those are
* Install the Homebrew Channel - which means you dont even need the Twilight Hack anymore, and are immune from Nintendo's updates that may block the Twilight Hack (which happened, but the hackers got around it and released an updated version)

It's not as open as Custom Firmware on PSP is, but I expect to get to that point in the future

Yes you can get online

I'll hold off until they get that done without the headache then.  I still haven't updated my Wii, so my freeloader still is fine.  The next Wii game I'm getting is WarioWare, and knowing those bastards, it will probably force an installation.

House of the Dead is the main reason why I bought a Wii, and yes, it's the best version of HOTD you can get.

I can understand if you don't like how the Wii controls got in the way for SMG, but calling the game uninspired? Wtf?

Nobody mentioned Zack & Wiki?  It's great if that sort of thing floats your boat and it's one of the few Wii games that looks pretty darn awesome.

I didn't say that Super Mario Galaxy was uninspired.

I said that it is uninspiring, to me.

The difference between the two depends on what your definition of is is, apparently.
