eating rabbit on easter :rofl

I've never used rabbit myself (I hate gamey meat - save for Kangaroo), but afaik it isn't very versatile. I think you'll be looking at Rabbit Stew and thats about it

Braised Rabbit french style is always a winner.

Here's a good intro: http://honest-food.net/2008/12/30/classic-civet-of-hare/

His recipes are gold for game meats--rabbit, venison, boar, etc.

Made some pan fried chicken thighs in clarified butter, sautéed spinach with garlic and olive oil, and diced avocadoes with garlic and sriracha.  So good.

My wife is particularly fond of http://www.ourbestbites.com/.  The recipes she makes from that website are good, but I don't think many of them are good for you.  And they're all relatively easy to make.

On another note, I just sliced up a batch of frozen beef.  I'm going to marinade that beef in soy sauce, terriaki sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, and a little bit of Maker's Mark bourbon for four hours.  After that; it will begin the process into becoming JERKY!  :drool

But it actually tastes really good.  What do you put in your jerky?

I don't eat it, because of all the sugar and crap. I mean, ok, it's probably way less sugar than a candy bar, but you don't have to eat beef that way so why go out of your way to do it.

Bear meat is pretty fatty so that added a lot of flavor. I'm half tempted to hunt bear just to make jerky. :drool

Also I tried Five Guys.  Verdict: meh. Their burgers are like a middle point between McDonalds and In'n'Out.  Definitely over-hyped.  I'm still hungry. :-\

Five Guys is pretty damn good for a fast food burger.  A bit pricey, but pretty good especially with all the customization.  And yeah, I'm usually still hungry after eating their burger.  But the fries usually do me in.

And damn CG, those eggs look good.

The fries weren't crispy.  :(  I think that was the most disappointing part.

I know it's blasphemy, but I feel the same way about In-N-Out. It's good, but all the hype is out of control.

I've eaten at Five Guys a couple of times in the past 3 months. I had Shake Shack for the first time in over a year last weekend. You can't even compare the two. Shake Shack's patty alone just tastes so much better.

Burgers at 5 guys are decent, nothing special... but the Cajun fries are damned good. I usually end up grilling my own burger (with a bit of worcestershire, teriyaki and rosemary added) or getting from American Roadside, a small local fast food burger joint.

Not blasphemy at all.  I used to be a big supporter of In-N-Out but the last few years have been disappointing.  Maybe it's the economy but the quality has really taken a nosedive.  :-\

Love Shake Shack.  It kills all.

Lunchbox Lab in Seattle is my favorite, but we don't go there often since you end up dropping $40 for 2 burgers, 2 shakes and 2 fries.

In Japan, the only decent burger I've had are from Wolfgang Puck's Café. I've had them in Roppongi and Yokohama. ¥1500 but perfect. Next are Kua Aina burgers, which are ¥1300 or so and a little tough, so it seems not worth it. Their fries are greasy and thin as well. They do have Fire Rock Pale Ale on hand though, which inclines me to be forgiving.

You live in Tokyo. You had Chipotle Tabasco WAY before we got it in Osaka. And Sam Adams Boston Lager as well. I'm in the culture ghetto.

That burger place we went to before the Giants game last year was really good. Blackcow, right?

There's also a Kua Aina in Tokyo, which is good eats.

Yeah, but there are literally dozens and dozens of places like that now. It's like Napoli-style pizza - for years there were only a few places in the whole city, then BOOM, it's everywhere.

mmm, protein...gotta love how there is almost never a carbohydrate to be found in CG's posts :bow

Continuing that theme, crossposted from the Fitness thread: I give you tonight's fitness regime...call me lazy if you will but I prefer this to jogging and futsal....

The chicken was probably excessive but I had some leftover that I wanted to get rid of. The steak was done Billy Rygar-style of course (broiled in the oven on low heat first, then seared). The salad is just some baby leaf stuff bought in a bag from the supermarket, with some tomatoes on top (marinated in olive oil, garlic, balsamico, salt and pepper). The chicken was also store bought...always have a few precooked chicken breasts in the fridge for slicing into salads or just eating cold. The green stuff on top left is pureed broccoli (lots of cream and butter). Anyone can do this kind of food...the only thing that even takes practice is timing the steak. Even that is hard to really fuck up unless you burn it black.
