I couldn't care less about it being on PS3. I don't understand the hype Disgaea gets because it's not a good SRPG. It's good at other things, but the core SPRG aspect is so lacking in strategy that I got really annoyed at the game. Never bothered with 2 nor will I bother with 3 unless they somehow made the system less reliant on powerleveling your recruits and more on actual strategy tactics with your current base party.

this. disgaea's strategy is all about your min-maxing and powerleveling skillz, and how quickly you can find the deliberate loopholes to break the system. it is AWESOME.

I stopped after doing a few missions due to Castle Crashers releasing. So far, so good. The graphics are really shameless. How the fuck did this game end up on PS3? It would have sold much better on the PS2. But still I doubt that Sony would have moneyhatted a niche strat rpg to appear on PS3 exclusively.

I like the high rez assets that ARE there, its really just about the sprites, which look great when the map opens then it zooms in and arhhhhghgg, but you get used to it. The music, gameplay mechanics, and story are all top notch; my favorite so far. If anyone is playing a NIS game for visuals, they're probably lookin for the wrong things

The sprites are really hideous. You can either play with them being smoothed out in blurovision, or play it in pixelvision. Both are about equally ugly. Would it really have been so much trouble to draw up high res versions of the sprites? All the sprites are pretty simple.

The pixelvision ones are worse, ive decided. And for NIS, visuals have always been their last concern. I think all of their budget went to the high res art for the cutscenes and eyecatches and story crap.

they don't expect the games to sell tons, so staying low budget is one viable way for them to continue making disgaea games. even with disgaea's visuals, i still think some of the moves look cool. and the draw of the game is really the strategy involved -- i might care more about the visuals if there was another SRPG bringing both excellent visuals and strong strategy gameplay.

But what I really don't get is why this is on PS3 instead of PS2. If budget was really a concern, why would they put it on the platform where it won't perform as well?

I think it still looks cool, and a person does get used to the sprites since they have decent animation. All said and done it doesnt impact the play experience aside from 'wtf is it on ps3'
