Karol controls horribly. Jesus christ. I had to set the difficulty to Easy during the Ghost Ship so the monsters wouldn't beat my ass.

I already feel the combat has been opening up.  The only thing I wish was that more elaborate combat wasn't based on using MP (or whatever they call it).  At least you are constantly getting it back by hitting enemies and all that.

ha, I just realized that the last RPG I liked this much came out this same time last year (Persona 3).  :bow August for JRPGs :bow2

I have no idea what a burst art is yet.  I don't think I ever played a Tales game where a switched the main/starting character up as the person I play as, so I don't think I will start now

I'm just happy that this game levels up those out of your party at the same rate as those in it.

You can switch characters in the menu between battles by moving the character you want into the first slot. I cant figure out how to effectively use Estelle, but Rita is so OP its helpful to know how to use her.
You can't switch the character that you control in battle early in the game. There's a certain item you have to get/synthesize first.

I know, I said between battles. I rarely switch characters in battle even with the option. Rita > *

Good.  I wasn't going to go back anyway.

And I did come close to dying in the initial battles when it was just Yuri.  I rely on a healer to get me through these situations so I can focus on fighting.

Reviews lie about how this game is a masher 'like the other tales games'. You cant even mash in the first Yuri fight, and timing burst artes and finishing strikes isnt mashing either. ARGH REVIEWERS! NOT PLAYING GAMES AGAIN!

Well in fights if your people wanna use items a little thing will pop up near their menu with them asking to use an item. This is essentially where the player can cancel their use of the item. Thats pretty much what the comic is about. The absurdity of the idea of them asking in battle if they can use a life bottle.

Oh ok. I like that feature though. Sometimes a character on my team tries to use a life bottle when Estelle could just resurrect me with her magic so I tell them not to use it. I try to save them for when Estelle dies and I have no other way to revive anyone.

Long. I've played for 37 hours and according to GAF, I haven't reached the 2/3 mark yet. I think I'm close though.

Damn, so this game could actually be 60+ hours then? 10 times more enjoyment for me then.  Only worry is that all these jrpg are going to destroy my 360.  It doesn't help that leaving my 360 all day makes my room really hot.

I actually dig the intro song.  Better than the shitty super pop of other j-rpg.

I died twice, then I stopped being stubborn and grinded a bit.  Third time I messed him up with only using two life potions (only because I kept getting infected with poison and Estelle wouldn't do recover like I told her to).

Yeah you have to do a lot of taunting with yuri's projectile-like arte attack and keep him away from her. Its a tricky fucking fight. Thats the last 'hard' fight for some hours. When you fight bosses keep an eye open for objects within the combat area you can target, there's two big boss fights that center around this.

If you lure the wolf to the plants he gets stunned, which leaves him open. Its pretty tricky since you can get stunned too. It does make the fight easier tho.

The plant thing isnt crucial, personally I think its the worst boss fight mechanic in the game just because there's no way to know how close you can get, and how cose he needs to get.

Rita is seriously the best character.  She has a dildo (or strap on) in her room, makes Estelle a lesbo, uses bondage chains and whips as weapons, and she is only 15.  More characters like this in other games are needed.

This game is going to take me forever to beat, it knows exactly how to get at my ocd.  I am almost broke for buying weaker weapons that I'm going to grind with so I can get those weapon skills.  I just got to the Guild city and I honestly spent like 10 minutes planning on which order I will use these weapons and managing my money and skills.  Luckily there are some swords that both Yuri and Estelle can both use.  This game is so awesome.

And I probably will start watching One Piece after playing this if they are apparently similar.

How old is Flynn? He seems like he would be older than Yuri.

Vesperia rox hardcore. You dont HAVE to mess with skill allocation cause the game does a decent job, but you can, and the result is doing better in the arena, getting better combos going, *and probably some achievements tied to that as well* so really the game is as deep as you want it to be.
