If you didn't play Assassins Creed without the HUD you're a fuckhead and a aint' know shit about games.
AC was simple yet you people will talk about Uncharted, wtf. Cover cover cover cover. lol
ok let's make the Assassin's Creed<>Uncharted gameplay comparison then
platforming:Assassin's Creed has you hold down freerun (or whatever) button and point where you want to go. Uncharted has you point in the direction you want to leap/jump and press a button to execute. AC does all the jumping for you, where as Uncharted gives you that control. It's the difference between auto-pilot (AC) and manual (Uncharted) platforming. AC's platforming is undeniably simple.
combat:the combat is of course that of different games entirely, but you can still draw basic comparisons.
Assassin's Creed has a couple flavors of combat. assassinations and general field combat. assassinations are simple: you enter your stance and press the assassinate button -- again, it's basically on auto-pilot. normal field combat isn't much more complex. once you're in engagement, you just block until they attack, which is when you'll press a button to counter -- again, very basic. for the most part, they just stand around taking turns attacking -- you don't really need to worry about anything... you just wait for one to attack so you can counter.
Uncharted, by its nature, gives you more options in terms of weapons etc. different weapons work better in different situations -- even the different postures (firing at the hip vs aiming at the shoulder) offer advantages and disadvantages both in relation to specific weapons and certain situations. there are more ways in which you can use your weapons in uncharted -- at the hip gives you better mobility and sometimes more effecient use of certain weapons, aiming gives you that precise control to land headshots and conserve ammo etc. you can even shoot while hanging from ledges etc (an example equevalent in AC would be letting you hang down and assassinate someone from the ceiling, but afaik, AC doesn't provide that). you have grenades and fixed turrets to mix combat up - you also have
slight variety in enemies in uncharted - pirates, armored mercenaries, and the monster things. i got bored of AC and never finished it, but afaik, it's all civilians/victims or guards. and then you add uncharted's melee system in, which is actually a fairly robust (in the context of it's genre) combo system. certain combos are great for killing someone quick (the good ol' one-two punch to bullet in the face) while other combos give you double ammo drops.
AC's combat is way simpler than uncharted.
and AI is no contest. AC's AI is dumb, predictable, and outright exploitable -- the escape mechanic could have been cool, except the AI was too dumb and exploitable that it basically made it super mundane. Uncharted's AI is aggressive and employs a variety of more advanced maneuvers.
i tried AC wit/without the HUD and it didn't click with me either way. so yeah, AC is quite simple compared to uncharted.
