I've always enjoyed the slow needling Matthews over the CRAZY LIBRUL one. I love when he just asks her 'so whats the connection, liberals are unamerican?'

This kinda shit will kill swing votes for the republicans, because if you arent with the pubs all the way YOU R UNAMERICAN

Michelle Bachman?  She's a crazy fundie.  Creationism, homophobia, the whole nine yards.  She was on the board of a school that wouldn't screen Aladdin because it promotes witchcraft or Islam or some such.

She also claimed there was a secret plan for Iran to take over the Shia part of Iraq and set up a Vichy style puppet government.

Yep, these are the new McCarthyists. Pelosi is a radical, Anti-American communist? The mind boggles.

And honestly, is it smart of them to challenge the media right now?

While I think that she's likely to get the boot (she's the hag that gave Dubya that kiss after the 2007 SotU) let's not attribute excess sanity to Minnesotans.  Never forget:  they elected Jesse Ventura Governor.

So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: "We're voting for the n***er."

In this economy, racism is officially a luxury. How is John McCain going to win if he can't win those voters? John Murtha's "racist" western Pennsylvania district, where this story takes place, is some of the roughest turf in the nation. But Barack Obama is on the ground and making inroads due to unusually strong organizing leadership.

Yup, she was polling 42-38 against her opponent in a moderate district, and that was before she opened her stinkin' mouth.

Damn these pundits are hammering on the "Spread the wealth" thing. Some douche was on GMA this morning saying how the average American doesn't like the govt. taking their money for programs. They are conveniently leaving out that the it is not the average American who's wealth is going to be spread. Chalk up another lie.

More importantly they are distorting his comments, and not even calling McCain out on this. Obama pointed out that if everyone had more money to spend due to tax cuts they'd be able to afford Joe's imaginary plumbing business, thus he'd benefit and hence money would be spread around that way - people with more money in their pocket can spread it. It's amazing that the media has sat by and let this blatant distortion breath.

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe" -- here the audience interrupted Palin with applause and cheers -- "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. actually, that IS spreading the wealth.  For me, I support Obama's method of spreading the wealth to his degree, but in any case: it IS spreading the wealth.  and it IS closer to socialism than NOT spreading the wealth.  it's all ideologies, yuou see.

I'm tasked for six hours of canvassing tomorrow and a shift of poll workin' on Monday. All of us here are working under the notion that 'if all else fails, the burden is on us to pull off the upset'.

The other ideaology says you cut taxes on companies and small businesses.  They have more money to hire and pay.  They expand and hire and pay... and then those workers hire a plumber or more importantly they have good paying jobs, security and they feel comfortable spending which in turn grows the economy.  You can't raise taxes on small businesses and corporations and grow the economy and you especially can't do it in a recession.  For what Obamas entitlement programs are going to "spread" or who they're going to be spread to, it won't matter.  Those people won't be able to afford a plumber anyway.

Hope so but polls are showing McCain gaining ground.

I've done all I could do though: donated to his campaign twice, voted for him in the early vote in Iowa, a secure Obama state.  Not much more I can do except maybe donate one more time.

Anyone you know living in California, make sure they know how serious No on 8 is. The Mormons are pumping tens of millions of dollars into the state to try to get it to pass.

First of all, a company claiming their profits that are in the realms of the 'socialism tax' area are still doing amazingly fine. Knowing, as this profitable business owner paying this higher tax, that my core workers(the ones that make the business profitable) are better off because I pay a little more should be the icing on the cake of life.  The increase these much more well off people are bitching about make me hate them all the more

Wisconsin man beats Obama canvasser.

Quote
In an exclusive interview with 12 News, 58 year-old Nancy Takehara of Chicago says she was going door-to-door when she came across a disgruntled homeowner.

“The next thing I know he’s telling us we’re not his people, we’re probably with ACORN, and he started screaming and raving,” Takehara said. “He grabbed me by the back of the neck. I thought he was going to rip my hair out of my head. He was pounding on my head and screaming. The man terrified me.”

Must have been a real big man, beating up a 58 year old woman.

John Lewis was right.  The right wing noise machine is poisoning 40+% of the country to just the IDEA of an Obama Presidency.  If you're gonna win, Barack, win big so people can just STFU.

Colin Powell endorses Obama.

The bit about the Muslim FUD tactics at 4:30 is good.

Quote
Rush Limbaugh said Colin Powell's decision to get behind Barack Obama appeared to be very much tied to Obama's status as the first African-American with a chance to become president.

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an email. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

As for Powell's statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: "I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [General] and Secretary of State and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

Powell, like Rice, is a republican but is rather liberal on social views; that makes Rush's SC comments quite puzzling. I'm not surprised that he's dismissing this as Powell "voting for the black guy." Drudge is insinuating it on his front page.

Can't wait to hear McCain surrogates attack Powell's judgment and (possibly?) character next week. Or will they simply roll out a list of REAL generals who support McCain

Not just the social issues.  He's definitely part of the realist wing of the GOP foreign policy community which is pretty solidly opposed to McCain's neocon/hawkish policies and associates.  Chuck Hagel, Dick Lugar, and Brent Scowcroft have all remained ostentatiously neutral in this race despite being longtime Republicans.

Rush's quote is only "puzzling" if you check it against the facts.  It's completely within his character to question the motives of those who disagree with him and to project his own racism onto a minority in the process.

Do the most recent polls include the days after the debate?  If the debate was such a resounding win, why such a disappointing result for Obama?
