god this game is so fucking awesome.  finished all the missions in coop last night.  even the story is better than gta4.  the design in this game is just amazing.  mid mission checkpoints are a god-send.  i have so many activities to go through.  it seems you don't need to do as many as you did in sr1, or you seem to get a lot more respect per activity.

but fuck if it isn't glitchy.  i probably had to suicide 5 times b/c of messed up AI or non-spawn vehicles.  and i probably had another 5 hard freezes.

I really can't believe how over the top this is. Shooting the judge in the beginning when she had a shotgun  :lol

I had to turn v-sync on...I appreciate them offering the choice.

You don't need to suicide.  Hitting down on the D-pad lets you cancel the mission and retry from a checkpoint or the start of it.

How much does turning v-sync on kill the frame rate?

It's pretty unstable with v-sync on but I can't play without it. It gives me headaches.

I didn't really have problems with the tearing.  Sometimes it gets to me, like with Bioshock, but other times it is only a mild annoyance like in Uncharted.

I also need to try out co-op eventually, but I'll probably finish Dead Space before I go back to SR2.

I thought the tearing in SR and SR2 was really bad. Nothing like GoW2-- where I'd take breaks to prevent getting sick-- but bad enough that I opted for the v-sync option.

I don't understand this idea of tearing. It seems like last gen, with the exception of gow2, games never tore. they just slowed down. why are games not just slowing down anymore and instead tearing?

I'm glad this wasn't just me!  Happened tonight during the final mission against the Japanese gang.  I was wondering if it was the new Xbox 360 unit I just got yesterday, but something tells me it was the game.

I'm having a little trouble getting into it. I think I might be burnt out on sandbox games, but I also have been trying to study for midterms and write papers so I haven't had a ton of time. The first mission I played yesterday had the bad asian guy get stuck on a fence and i had to shoot him to get him to move.

All that studying is probably your problem.  I have a fairly light work load, so I don't really mind about the midterm paper due on Thursday...actually I should probably get on that.

Co-Op is GLITCHED... Robby and I have been doing missions and for some reason the checkmarks arent appearing on my side. And then when they did, I left and saved, reloaded, and the checks arent there anymore.

They need to fix this... I'm getting miffed I'm wasting my time with this

radio is amazing!

you can see the map without pressing pause!

it actually saves more than 2 cars to your garage!  FUCK YOU GTA4!

save anywhere anytime > gta

Questions:  I'm confused and all I've been doing is random activities and car collecting...how the hell do I progress the storyline?  Do I have to take over the green gang's area?

OK, so there's no mission icon on the map I missed?  I just have to start killing green gang members?  The only thing in the game i've done gangwise was filling in a red spraytag I ran across while in an Escort mission. :-[

woah, what?  I love this game and all, but I absolutely HATE the radio stations.  I hardly recognize any of the songs, which in and of iteslf is not a bad thing, but oh my god did they have to pick such painfully bland music?  It's just as bad as listening to the radio IRL.  Seriously, who's idea was it to make an ENTIRE STATION dedicated to :cookiem shit?

are you guys serious?  do you not remember San Andreas' hip-hop stations?  Or damn near ever station in Vice City and VCS?  Those games had top-notch song selections.  SR2 has fucking Panic at the Disco, some played-out rap, and some of the most played-out pop songs of the 80's.  IT SUCKS

Is anyone having trouble with Sons of Samedi mission where you gotta protect the warehouse from junkies? Robby and I cant get it to proceed, we think its glitched. The part where Pierce/Shaundi are packing the boxes, it just gets to 11/12 and Peirce just stands there and Shaundi is nowhere to be found.

I only listened to The Mix, so the other stations could have sucked, I don't know.  I still say that it is the best single radio station since GTA3 with Flashback.  Vice City has my favorite complete soundtrack, but I would constantly switch stations.

It's a glitch.  I had the same one.  For some reason Shaundi just disappeared and Pierce stopped moving.   Had to restart the mission.

Dude, I finished Mercs 2 ACCIDENTALLY last night. I had no idea I was on the final mission and then it was like "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED, U BEAT THE GAME" and I was like "Um what?"

The worst part is that I hadn't done any missions for the Chinese yet, so I can't get any achievements that are linked to them.

Also, it seems that even though you can SAVE multiple games, you can never actually LOAD one--all you can do is continue from your last game. Meaning, I can't go back to one of my older saves. WTF?

I'd say around 20 hours total playtime, with activities.  I'll have to check the newspaper clippings next time I play.

I had a glitch early on in the game where I froze as a ending cutscene to a mission was playing.  When I rejoined my friend's game, it didn't give me credit for that mission.  So all the unlocks and bonuses I didn't get until I went back and did the mission solo.

Co-op is just really buggy I guess.  But it's fun as hell.

demi on that bug I just decided I was going to always keep my camera on Shaundi, so that if she disappeared I'd see where it was happening.  But she never did.  I know jack all about programming, but I know lots of the stuff in the game world disappears the moment you stop looking at it.  So I figured maybe that was what was happening with her.

Another glitch is that if you don't do the first two missions initially on co-op, you can't get them checked if you go back via newspaper clippings. I have every mission I've done (11 so far)  checked except the first two prologue missions. This is also common among forums.

do you have to do them sequentially? can you do everything but those and then go back and do the 2 initial missions co-op?

Pretty sure you basically have to do the entire game in co-op, if you do the first two missions in single player then go back, it wont count them.

I'm pretty pissed I have to basically start all over in a new file for co-op.

Does anyone feel like wasting a couple days of their life and getting the co-op activity achievement with me? This would entail creating a whole new game, and using it for nothing but co-op activities with me. No missions. You can use other saves for your regular gaming.

Ok, someone may have found a solution for the "glitched" missions... I cant confirm it myself though

Quote
Lets make it clear, the HOST has to start a new game. I got all co-op missions complete using a character that I had in progress, joined a brand new game, I had the prologue complete in my Single Player, and ended up getting the achievement after we finished. So in theory, you could have a friend start a new game, replay the prologue, and you'll be fine using your current character.

So the solution is:

Make new char (or friend)

Have him start a new game in co-op, then invite you

You load up your character, then do the 2 prologue missions

Then the two missions should be checked on your side

Sho Nuff, you goofball.

It's hidden and counterintuitive, but not gone. LOAD GAME is under the Options > Manage Saves menu from the Start Menu. It's lame, because there are so many times some jackass HVT gets himself killed, and if you want the ACES HIGH Achievement, you'll have to reload.

Reloading from last save requires Quit, (really?) YES, load, load, load, Start Menu, Options, Manage Saves, Load, (really?) YES, load, load, load. It was easier in Mercs 1.
