Got my gift (Wednesday)

The spicy hot pickles were omg awesome. They're a big hit here.  Had to chase everyone away from them or else there would be nothing left.   The chocalate bars imbued with chili pepper are great also.  I didn't even know they made such a confection.  The chili isn't overpowering in the chocalate but it is subtle to perfection.  Nice package topped off with a dvd and a memento of distantmantra's home city.

I need to know where the pickles are from.  I always want to have some in the house.

I made the pickles with my mom and grandma back in August. I can get you the recipe if you'd like. The chili pepper chocolates came from Whole Foods. I'm so glad you liked them!!! You were a hard one to shop for.

I remember you saying that you had rented Robot Chicken Star Wars from XBL over the summer, so I figured you could use an actual copy to watch whenever. And everyone gets a cheesy tourist Seattle magnet.

I specifically ordered both from Amazon itself and not one of their 3rd party sellers, in hopes that everything would arrive in one package.

I just checked Amazon, and it looks like it was in a separate package. It arrived in Warrendale, PA on the 17th, so hopefully it'll be ah his house soon

There are two vintage electronica CDs (1974, 1995) from artists I've never heard of that should make for cool listening.

There's also a funny/creepy tissue box cover called "the sweating dog." But that's not sweat, my friends.

First disc is Live 1974 by Harmonia 76.

Though They Only Released Two Albums (1974's Musik Von Harmonia and 1975's Deluxe) in their Brief Existence Harmonia were Considered One of the Most Important and Influential Bands of the German Krautrock/Kosmiche Scene. Composed of Michael Rother from Neu! and Hans-joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius from Cluster, this Live Recording Captures Harmonia at their Peak on March 23, 1974 at Penny Station in Griessem, Germany. Previously Unreleased and featuring Five Extended, and Never Before Heard, Songs. Cosmic German Space-rock from the True Originators. Includes Liner Notes.

This sounds awesome, both musically and historically. German cosmic electrorock.

Second disc is BCD by Basic Channel. Original release 1995.

Originally released in 1995 and out of print for quite awhile – this groundbreaking album laid the foundation to the Rhythm & Sound sonic aesthetics with its echo heavy atmospheric density.

Also awesome. Thanks to my Secret Santa - not only did you pick electronic stuff that's up my alley, you also seem to have picked forgotten works which were influential/historically significant, which is totally my kind of musical archeology.

Pictures of the dog tissue box cover will wait until tomorrow, when I buy a box of tissues to put in it.

Books look awesome, I'm flying through the book that I was reading when I got these so I can start.  I'm either going to read La Grande Armee or The Battle first, then Battles of the Bible and which ever book from the 1st two that I didn't read.  Haven't checked out Blind Fury yet but I'm hoping to get to watch that before Christmas, I love the expression of the guys face on the cover, he's a nikka u don't want to mess with.  TY whoever sent it to me, someone from WA.

Thanks for being patient! The Holidays were super crazy. So, here's what you'll find in the box:

-2 jars of Peanut Butter & Co. Peanut Butter: This is the company I work for. We make 8 flavors of PB: Smooth, Crunchy, White Choc, Dark Choc, Spicy, Cinn Raisin, Maple and Honey. You can find us in more supermarkets than ever before! I wanted to send some more flavors or, at least, more interesting flavors, but those were all we had in the office- Everyone else ransacked the supply before I got to it, haha. The Spicy is good for cooking. I can send along some recipes! Also, I accidentally included a test-label on the Cinn Raisin. It's not a big deal, but don't show it to our competitors

-Gone Fishin': This movie sucks, in a sort of good way. Also, someone was decapitated making this movie. What a waste. When I was in college a friends Mom sent this to her for Christmas. I stole it. I decided it was time to pass it along. Do watch it. You can probably pick out the scene in which someone was decapitated.

-Chuao Chocolatier Firecracker: They make this in truffle form, too. I actually don't like the bar that much, but I wasn't able to get the truffles in time and I wanted to include something fun inside the BOOK

-The book!: I have been thinking about doing a hollowed-out book for ages. This is the very first one I've ever done. It took maybe 3 or 4 hours of labor over a couple of days, my wife and I worked in shifts. I thought this would be a fun gift, something cool to have on your shelf. I hope you like it! It originally had some secret documents inside that we faux-aged, but then I tried to make them look like someone tried to burn them and in the process I actually set them on fire and destroyed them  I didn't have time to make extras, so. Apologies!

Anyway, enjoy! I hope you like your stuff. I think this was probably the best gift I gave all season.
