It's truly fucking amazing.

Electronic Arts.

What I like a lot about it is that it sits at a nice middle point between the heavy, heavy ACTION survival horror of RE4 and the more scary, slow paced HORROR of Silent Hill or whatever.

i liked re4, too, but one should ALWAYS be able to aim/strafe when you have a second stick

180 turn would be nice, though, although the game seems to be smarter than to throw LOL BEHIND U every five seconds ala doom 3

That IS survival horror.

Do you consider Resident Evil PSX survival horror? Because that's an action game. Remember how RE PSX ends? With you circle strafing a giant monster, blowing it to pieces with a magnum or grenades until a dude in a helicopter tosses you a rocket launcher?

An emphasis on action has been a core component of MANY survival horror games for the better part of a decade.

I'm gonna play it on the weekend when I'm done with Saints Row 2. Going from killing dozens of nerds with a minigun and my ninja crew to scary space stuff is going to be an awesome transition.

EA should buy Activision and fire everyone except IW, Bizarre, maybe Blizzard and a few others. Ubisoft is next. EA will purge their filthy Wii/DS/distinguished mentally-challenged fellow development teams.

How you can you not love EA? they canceled a game because they didn't think it was quality, they put out Dead Space, they put out one a good third party game on the Wii, they are putting out Mirror's Edge.

Oh, and they are making a fuckin' survival horror game with Suda 51 and Mikami.

EA is using Wii/DS development to fund their 360 games. The way a true gaming company should do it.

You know what's funny? We're basically approaching 2 and a half years after Wii has taken everyone by storm (E3 or whatever) and still nobody gives a shit. Isn't that poetic justice? Nintendo fans finally have their sales and still nobody cares.

It's not like EA hasn't pushed out more than its fair share of original, high quality titles for a while now. Burnout, SSX started life in the previous generation. Black wasn't a huge success, but it was a new game, and a fairly unique one at that. Their games also tend to enjoy ample levels of polish, which becomes easier to appreciate with companies like Ubiglitch around.

It's a huge producer of games, though, so there is going to be some crap.

The only time I would turn on a game is when I make big statements when I just started it then realize that the game fails to be what I was predicting it to be. For Oblivion I initially thought "Morrowind with better graphics! It can't be bad", but then I kept playing and realized how many aspects were taken away and changed for the worse. I still enjoyed the game, just nowhere as near as I expected to or Morrowind. Same with GTA4, except that did turn out to suck. I remember 30 hours in and I was still waiting for some event to happen to make it interesting, but it never came. Saints Row 2 had an interesting turn before I even was able to control my character.

Developed by Criterion (now EA), published by EA. A bit like Battlefield, by DICE, which is now EA. Just saying, EA has been pushing pretty decent stuff, much of it pretty out there when compared to the nearest competitor, along with the crap for some time.
