I've made it to Chapter 4 on hard, and it really isn't that difficult. Ammo is just really scarce and it takes alot of shots to dismember. The game feels like a cross between BioShock and RE4, and it even has audio diaries. I think it was Altogether that chastised me for saying that the game gave a BioShock vibe months ago  ::)

I'm only on Chapter 3 and so far the game is really great.  I'm not really finding it scary at all, but I'm not holding that against it since the last game to scare me was the Nosferatu demo on PC because of a glitch where an enemy fell through some stairs onto me, and this was all years ago.

On Chapter 10 and I'm definitely starting to feel fatigue. I'm really ready for this game to end and yet I know there's still 2 chapters left. I pretty much know where this game is heading at least literally maybe not story wise, and I kind of just wanna get there.

Buy guns in any order you want. The only big purchases are the armor upgrades. The only time I couldn't snag one immediately was suit level 5, because I'd just bought like 4 nodes and only had 40kish credits. Line Gun is actually really fun to use, but I don't think it could be a primary weapon. Not enough ammo.

Some of the lighting is out of control.

The one thing I'm confused about is how the bench takes money.  It says points, but am I to believe that to upgrade part of your suit you need 100 nodes?

Just finished the game. My feeling towards the game and the ending:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
From chapter 1 - ohhh... about 7 or 8? The game is bloody fantastic. The enemies still retain their spookyness, the tricks the game uses to scare you are fresh, and the overall design of the game hasn't been overdone.
After Chapter 8 I started to feel gamer fatigue. Basically I was prepping myself for the end game. The thing is that there still was plenty of game left. When this kind of thing happens I tend to stop thinking about the task at hand and more about just trudging through until the end.
Why this happened rests on the way the game structures your objectives. Far to many times do they bestow upon you an objective, and then directly after you finish it just so happens that something else is wrong and I have to go fix it. In the beginning I laughed because it's classic gaming design, but after Chpt 8 I started to resent my allies because I knew they'd have another action packed objective lined up for me.
Then we got to the Valeris ship and I think we've already established my feeling towards this particular setting. It almost single handedly stopped my progress through the game.

The two big boss fights were really cool, but I think they could have been better. I generally roll my eyes at the typical "fire at the glowing weak spot" boss fight and these were basically that. Visually they both were stunning, but gameplay wise they could have used the dismemberment idea better.

Chapter 12 was a big redeeming point in the game. The new setting, however brief, was a lovely change of pace. I really enjoyed the lighting and horizon. After being cooped up in that ship I was getting cabin fever.

I called Nicole not really being there. Every time you see her she disappeared suddenly. I'm not sure however if the big reveal was that Isaac purposely didn't watch the rest of the video log, or if he'd already seen it and decided to block it out. Either way I do have to admit I didn't see the Kendra twist coming. Maybe it's because it was literally out no where and they didn't even slightly hint to it like they did Nicole's twist.
The ending was quite horror movie like. Nice quick jump scare and close. I did like that they never really gave the main character any.... well.. character. This so they can drop another dude in a sequel and we'd be none the wiser. Unlike some others I definitely would like to see a sequel, but I would like something radically different, not just Space Ship 2.0
[close]

I really liked Dead Space. It's one of the standout games this game. Before playing this game I really didn't have many games in my top 10. This game has definitely placed high. For now that list goes:
MGS4
Burnout Paradise
Rock Band 2
Dead Space
DMC4

This list is subject to change when LBP comes out, and when I finally play Mirror's Edge (however I'm not too sure the latter will place as high)

Now I'm looking forward to going through a second time with my shit all jacked up. Time to really fuck some necromorphs up.

The points are referencing the stats you are upgrading. Confused me at first as well. So when it says "HP Upgrade 125 points", it's saying that you will now have 125 hit points. The only resource you spend at the bench is power nodes.

Kind of. Each point on the grid costs a node. Sometimes you have to take an empty point to get to the upgrade you want.

I don't think you could get the full 1,000 in a week. I mean I guess you could, if you played a LOT. One of the trophies is maxing out the stats on every gun. On my first playthrough, where I'm pretty sure I snagged all or damn near all available nodes, including spending all of my cash at the end on extra nodes, I only managed to max one gun, with a couple others getting maybe halfway. There's like 8 available guns. I think you are probably looking at at least 3 playthroughs to max out every weapon.

What are the stats on the DLC suit? Full inventory and 20% armor? Because those are the stats on the Level 5 suit, which is the best suit you can get before beating the game.

I haven't played it yet, but I think Draft is right about the three playthroughs to max the lot - I've heard three to four playthroughs mentioned by the developers.

It is like RE4 meets Bioshock but more serious than both.  Enemies aren't some snazzy designed immigrants or boppers, they are fucked up aliens that will rush your ass.

And the sawblade in this is like the wrench in Bioshock.  It completely destroys enemies, you have almost limitless amounts of ammo, and you don't even need to aim with it.  My entire safe is filled with boxes of ammo if I ever need some, and I never do.

What difficulty are you playing on?  It is about 10 times scarier on hard because you are more fragile and ammo is more scarce.

It's going to take 7 nodes to get my cutter power at maximum, then I'll have 10 left to open doors.  I just hope I don't run across 11 doors at once.

Oh, and the inventory system in this game  :heartbeat Organizing everything and making sure what things to leave on my safe or not is awesome.

And I haven't gotten a new weapon schematic in a while.  I just finished Chapter 8 and want something new to use.

shit, it took 8 nodes.  I forgot the initial one.
